The Director of Nursing (DON) - RN will support the successful execution of ML Healthcare's mission and Core Values by ensuring quality care through associate engagement, excellent clinical services and customer satisfaction within the community. The DON - RN will establish and direct the implementation of all written policies and procedures that reflect the goals, objectives and requirements of the Nursing department; ensure that all Nursing associates understand and follow established policies, procedures and systems. They will work with the corporate clinical team in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. The DON - RN will communicate changes in the Nurse Practice Act to nursing personnel and violations of the Nurse Practice Act to the State Board of Nurse Examiners. They will ensure that Resident Rounds are completed daily and participate in daily rounds. Maintaining the confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to ensure patient rights are protected is crucial. The DON - RN will coordinate interdisciplinary patient care management efforts and ensure effective and adequate organization and staffing of the Nursing department. They will ensure that nursing interventions meet the personal, physical and cognitive needs of each patient as well as maximize his/her self-care capacities, identify, independence, choice and opportunity for social interaction. Monitoring the outcomes of nursing service activity by evaluating the performance of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with all community and regulatory agency standards, policies and procedures, coordinating community committees and monitoring the effective and efficient use of budgeted resources (associates, supplies, equipment) are key responsibilities. The DON - RN will ensure that all applicable State and Federal employment laws and guidelines are followed by all Nursing department associates and that all Nursing department associates are appropriately oriented, onboarded and trained according to company policy and procedure. Developing and delivering training and in-service presentations, discussing/implementing plans of action to correct deficient areas identified on quality reviews, and overseeing all investigations regarding patients and Nursing department associates are also part of the role. The DON - RN will monitor and review patient incidents to identify possible legal issues and to identify patterns that may require preventive intervention. Ensuring that nursing staff is educated and utilizes infection control practices that protect staff, patients and families is essential. Finally, the DON - RN will ensure the resolution of complaints regarding the Nursing department or the community from patients, families or other responsible parties, medical staff volunteers and outside agencies affiliated with the community.
