Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Health, or allied field required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse, New York State
- Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, electronic medical record, and budgeting
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in health care management field.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes and directs patient care services in accordance with the philosophy & objectives of the Behavioral Health Department.
- Analyzes and evaluates delivery of patient care, quality, and effectiveness of nursing care.
- Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer in planning and implementing new methods of delivering nursing care.
- Responsible for the overall staffing of assigned units, reviewing and approving monthly time sheets and maximum utilization of available staff with the authority to relocate staff as required.
- Monitors and controls all financial resources and budget of the division.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Manager in preparing/reviewing all formal performance evaluations of staff in the division.
- Encourages responsibility, accountability, and personal achievements of each staff member.
- Meets at regular intervals with staff members on performance and establishing new goals and directives if required.
- Assesses the needs of the patient care staff and arranges for learning and growth opportunities.
- Interviews, evaluates, hires, counsels, disciplines, and terminates staff members in accordance with hospital policy.
- Acts as mediator when staff members are unable to resolve a conflict.
- Works closely with all staff members in providing services which enhance patient satisfaction, including creating and maintaining an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward patients, families, and staff.
- Performs all related duties as required and unrelated duties as requested during emergencies.
