About The Position

This role will lead the architecture and national rollout of nursing leadership development frameworks that align clinical excellence with Ascension’s long-term strategic goals. The Director of Nursing Practice will lead strategic mentorship, succession planning, and continuous professional growth programs for nurse leaders. This position will partner closely with executive nursing leadership, HR, and multidisciplinary teams to proactively identify future workforce trends, workforce shortages, and competency gaps. The role involves designing and executing visionary operational goals that align clinical workflows with the medical, administrative, legal, and ethical standards of Ascension. Additionally, the Director will leverage data analytics (such as NDNQI insights) to address clinical variations, minimize safety gaps, and champion evidence-based practices across Ascension, ensuring that investments translate into measurable improvements in retention, engagement, and patient safety metrics. Collaboration with regulatory teams to support internal and external regulatory audits is also a key responsibility, as is synthesizing national clinical standards and evidence-based research into enterprise nursing operations, empowering nursing teams across all ministries to reduce clinical variation.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Master's degree in nursing required.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Experience in nursing leadership to support a high-impact nursing operations framework.
  • Proven success leading evidence-based nursing and patient safety initiatives.
