About The Position

The Director of Nursing Network is a full-time position within the Inpatient Administration Department at High Point Medical Center. This role is responsible for delivering physical care to patients, administering medications, coordinating care, overseeing referrals and insurance verification, and maintaining current protocols. The Director also administers clinical policies and procedures, practices sterile technique, and handles infectious patients. A key aspect of the role is ensuring high-quality patient care by mentoring and educating nursing staff, providing clinical and managerial support to providers, coordinating staff activities and schedules, and evaluating staff performance. This includes making recommendations for merit increases and disciplinary actions, overseeing staffing coverage, managing patient lab reporting, inventory control, and medical supply ordering. The Director adheres to controlled substance regulations, administers medications as directed, and accurately charts patient information. They are responsible for identifying and accumulating data for performance and quality metrics, developing and monitoring programs to improve healthcare delivery, and evaluating office systems and procedures to implement quality programs. Additionally, the Director assists with in-services and educational programs for employees and physicians on quality care, educates on necessary changes for quality care, and assists with patient satisfaction surveys. They may participate in committees focused on quality care, handle professional liability and HIPAA compliance complaints, and work with management to respond to such issues. The role also involves enhancing professional growth through in-service meetings, educational programs, and conferences, and promoting wellness through patient education materials. Effective communication with patients and colleagues, both in person and over the telephone, is essential, as is providing a friendly, safe, timely, and quality-driven environment responsive to patient needs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with three years' experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Master's degree required.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of applicable state and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

  • Knowledge of professional nursing practices including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Knowledge of management and leadership principles including program development, implementation, and evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Delivers physical care to patients including administers medications, collects and processes specimens, facilitates care coordination, oversees referrals and verification of insurance coverage, maintains current protocols and procedures.
  • Administers clinical policies and procedures in a timely manner. Practices sterile technique and universal precautions. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
  • Ensures high-quality patient care of nursing staff by mentoring and educating.
  • Provides a broad range of clinical and managerial support to the provider and practice. Coordinates the work activities and schedules for clinical staff.
  • Evaluates performance of clinical staff and coordinates with office manager the recommendations for merit increases and/or disciplinary action. Oversees appropriate scheduling of staffing coverage, including planned and unplanned absences, patient lab reporting system, inventory control, and medical supply ordering.
  • Adheres to applicable state controlled substance regulations. Administers medications as directed by provider.
  • Accurately charts patient information in the medical record, reviews with provider, and obtains provider?s signature.
  • Identify and accumulate data necessary for development of performance and quality metrics.
  • Develops and monitors programs designed to improve the quality of health care delivery. Evaluates systems and procedures within an office and help implement quality programs.
  • Assists with periodic in-services, educational programs for employees and physicians regarding quality care related subjects. Educate as to why quality care may involve changes. Assists with patient satisfaction surveys.
  • May participate on committees directed towards promoting quality care.
  • Receives complaints and claims related to professional liability and HIPAA compliance. Works with manager in responding to complaint or claim.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs and conferences, and participates in committees as requested.
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials. Communicates provider advice/instructions to patients. Communicates effectively and courteously on the telephone and in person with patients and colleagues. Provides a friendly, safe, timely, quality-driven environment responsive to patient needs.
