The Director of Nursing, Ambulatory Surgery is responsible for providing leadership in human resource development and management, acquiring and allocating human, material, and financial resources for specific functions and processes. This role collaborates with the Human Resources Department on staff recruitment and retention, serving as a professional role model and mentor. The Director is accountable for the planning, development, and implementation of approved operational and capital budgets, identifying areas of need, determining feasibility, and making recommendations. In conjunction with system leadership, this role assists in the creation and development of long-range strategic plans and goals, participates in organization-wide performance improvement activities, and prepares and presents issues to various committees and boards. The Director is responsible for the overall planning and development of clinical programs, standards, quality assurance, research, and educational activities. They provide direction and oversight for designated departments, units, programs, procedural areas, and outpatient clinics, fostering critical thinking, conflict management, and problem-solving. The Director ensures continuous quality improvement, maintains compliance with hospital, regulatory, and Joint Commission guidelines, and builds collaborative partnerships within and outside the institution. They also participate in efforts to improve patient satisfaction and function as a professional manager of resources and environment, facilitating the clinical practice of nursing and operations.
