About The Position

As the Director of North American EHS, you will lead and oversee the development, standardization, and execution of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategies across all LGES North America sites. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while aligning regional operations with global HQ policies. You will drive a high-performance safety culture by strengthening risk management, leading incident prevention and response initiatives, and implementing KPI-driven improvements. In close collaboration with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders, you will support facility expansions and production ramp-ups, ensuring consistent EHS excellence across the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Safety, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive EHS management experience with demonstrated success in developing and executing effective programs and initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local EHS laws and regulations (EPA, RCRA, CWA, SWPPP, SPCC, OSHA etc).
  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and capable of balancing strategic planning with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project leadership with the ability to achieve goals on time and within budget, maintaining attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee a comprehensive EHS management framework for all LGES North America sites, ensuring full alignment with global HQ policies and local operational realities.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve EHS strategies, policies, and standards reflecting applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support EHS system deployment across existing and new facilities, ensuring readiness and compliance throughout production ramp-up and expansion.
  • Strengthen risk management practices related to incident prevention, emergency response, and hazardous process improvement.
  • Standardize environmental equipment operation (air, water, waste) and chemical management systems.
  • Manage compliance programs, permits, and key regulatory interactions across North America.
  • Evaluate and stay current with emerging EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to sustain a High-Performance Safety Culture.
  • Drive KPI-based improvement initiatives related to audit outcomes, safety performance, and sustainability metrics.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with LGES headquarters in Korea and all North American entities to ensure alignment, compliance, and consistent execution
