About The Position

RMC is seeking an accomplished, relationship-driven Director of National Sales to grow and strengthen its business across the Southeast and Midwest. This is a highly visible, client-facing role for a sales leader who understands that exceptional results are built through trust, thoughtful account management, local expertise, and extraordinary service. This is more than a territory sales role. It is an opportunity to represent one of the country's premier destination management companies, build long-term partnerships, and help clients imagine what is possible when national reach is paired with truly local relationships and service.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of successful sales experience within destination management, hotels, hospitality, meetings and events, travel, or a closely related relationship-led industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing and growing strategic accounts, with a strong network of third-party and/or corporate-direct relationships.
  • Experience developing new business and converting relationships into measurable revenue growth.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, account planning, and relationship-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent RMC confidently with senior clients and partners.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with disciplined follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Comfort using CRM and business productivity platforms; Salesforce and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, industry events, site inspections, and RMC engagements.
  • Residence within the Southeast or Midwest, with convenient access to a major airport, strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own, grow, and retain a portfolio of assigned third-party and corporate-direct accounts across the Southeast and Midwest.
  • Develop thoughtful account plans that identify near-term opportunities, multi-year potential, key stakeholders, and measurable growth strategies.
  • Deepen relationships within existing accounts while proactively expanding RMC's reach into new departments, business units, and client organizations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them evaluate destinations, shape program concepts, and connect their goals with the right RMC market and local team.
  • Build a healthy pipeline of new opportunities through networking, referrals, prospecting, industry involvement, hotel partnerships, and strategic outreach.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities that support RMC's destination and regional growth priorities.
  • Lead client presentations, discovery conversations, destination discussions, site inspections, and contract negotiations with confidence and professionalism.
  • Develop multi-year opportunities and partnerships that create durable, profitable revenue for RMC.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with clients, hotel partners, industry organizations, and other key influencers throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
  • Represent RMC at industry events, trade shows, client functions, networking events, and strategic partner engagements.
  • Partner closely with hotel Global Sales Organizations and local hotel teams to identify opportunities and strengthen RMC's market presence.
  • Be a visible ambassador for the RMC brand, consistently demonstrating warmth, responsiveness, integrity, and an exceptional level of service.
  • Create and execute an annual territory and account strategy aligned with RMC's revenue goals and budget expectations.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, account intelligence, pipeline data, forecasting, and next steps.
  • Collaborate closely with destination sales, operations, creative, and leadership teams to ensure seamless handoffs and an exceptional client experience from first conversation through program execution.
  • Share market intelligence, client feedback, competitive insights, and emerging opportunities to help RMC continuously improve and grow.
