About The Position

Margaux is seeking a Director of Merchandising to drive the execution of our seasonal footwear assortment strategy. Reporting to our co-CEO, this role is responsible for managing assortment development, supporting buy strategy, and owning product performance across key categories. This role is ideal for a sharp, detail-oriented footwear merchant who combines strong commercial instincts with operational precision and a love for product.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of merchandising experience with strong expertise in women's footwear required
  • Experience supporting or executing assortment strategy and buy decisions in a DTC or omnichannel environment.
  • Solid foundation in working with Planning on unit buys, inventory strategy, and financial outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a lean, founder-led company.
  • Commercial acumen paired with genuine appreciation for brand, design, and customer.

Responsibilities

  • Manage seasonal assortment development across core, carryover, and newness, supporting style count, depth, color, and category mix decisions.
  • Partner with Product and Design to ensure line architecture reflects brand vision, customer demand, and commercial objectives.
  • Prepare clear assortment recaps and presentations for cross-functional reviews and leadership alignment.
  • Partner with Planning on buy inputs at the style and category level, including unit depth, risk allocation, and receipt flow.
  • Support merchandising decisions by analyzing financial impact and surfacing trade-offs clearly.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Finance, and Operations to ensure buy execution aligns with strategy.
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and seasonal business reviews, translating performance data into actionable recommendations.
  • Support decisions on rebuys, cancellations, markdown cadence, and exit strategies in partnership with Planning and Finance.
  • Monitor product lifecycle to ensure decisions are timely, intentional, and brand-aligned.
  • Work closely with Product, Planning, Growth, eCommerce, and Operations to execute merchandising priorities.
  • Contribute to key milestones and cross-functional forums, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.
  • Provide merchandising context and direction to support Growth and eCommerce storytelling.
  • Maintain structured, consistent merchandising processes and seasonal calendars.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working and streamline cross-team workflows.
