About The Position

The Director of Mental Health Counseling is responsible for managerial functions including direct supervision of case management staff, ensuring clients receive appropriate services based on assessed needs, and supporting the overall treatment component of the program. This role ensures the provision of treatment in both the treatment and work release phases, provides specific training for the reentry division, and sanctions treatment and training modalities through a lead role with Treatment Coordinators. The position reports to the PROMISE Program Director but has external responsibilities to other and authority with Treatment Coordinators and Directors in Behavioral Health & Re-Entry Services regarding training and treatment.

Requirements

• Masters degree in one of the helping professions.
• Four years directly related experience.
• License in the State of New Jersey as an LCSW, LSW, LPC, or LCADC.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet agency standards.
• Thorough working knowledge of social learning theory, cognitive-behavioral intervention and approaches, assessment and evaluation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings.
• Demonstrated competencies in training, group interaction, and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to case management staff.
• Ensure clients receive appropriate services based on assessed need.
• Support the overall treatment component of the program.
• Ensure the provision of treatment program in both the treatment and work release phase of the program.
• Provide specific training for the reentry division.
• Sanction treatment and training modalities for the agency through a lead role with Treatment Coordinators.
• Interact with clients, staff, and outside contacts with respect and courtesy.
• Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
• Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.
• Ensure the provision of direct services to all clients entering the program, including completing assessments and service plans, referring clients to appropriate services, developing a group treatment schedule and running groups when needed, and coordinating psychiatric and clinical consultant appointments.
• Conduct weekly treatment team and individual meetings with core curriculum coaches to provide supervision, ensure timely and accurate progress notes, and ensure pre and post assessments and client satisfaction surveys are completed.
• Conduct case reviews and coordinate clinical consultation weekly with staff, consultants, and/or clients, including reviews of medication records.
• Develop and implement in-service training on evidence-based interventions, accreditation standards, and contract obligations for all treatment staff.
• Network with other community agencies to develop alternate resources for treatment support and aftercare.
• Carry a small, specialized caseload if necessary.
• Collect data to support research/outcomes initiatives and treatment coordination schedule.
• Ensure a continuum of mental health services from residential to permanent housing levels of care.
• Participate as a member of the agency Peer Review Committee.
• Supervise interns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
