About The Position

We are looking for a Director of Memory Care to join our leadership team at Morningside House Senior Living! The Director of Memory Care is a salaried position responsible for the overall operations and success of the Memory Care neighborhood. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping older adults living with dementia have the best days possible. This position models and ensures compassionate but comprehensive personal care and creates meaningful experiences for residents and families.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience in Memory Care setting is required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory/management in long term care or assisted living environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Dementia Practitioner certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all day-to-day functions of the memory care neighborhood, coordinating services with other department leaders
  • Adheres to and leads staff in adhering to or exceeding established Policies and Procedures (P&P), Morningside House Standards, regulatory practices, and state and federal regulations for assisted living facilities
  • Supervises health and wellness staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary issues, orientations, and ongoing training.
  • Assists in developing and implementing community policy in consultation with administration.
  • Professionally assists the marketing department with community tours, exhibiting excellent customer service skills in dealing with prospective residents and their families both in person and on the telephone.
  • Stays abreast of all major developments and latest thinking in dementia care, attending dementia training and continuing education programs as required.
  • Responsible for the 24-hour direct care needs of all memory support residents.
  • Assists with completing state-required reports to determine appropriate levels of care for resident agreements for memory care residents, in conjunction with other departments.
  • Manages all neighborhood staff, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, new staff orientation, continued training, scheduling to ensure coverage, performance evaluations, counseling, disciplining, and discharging when necessary.
  • Designs programming to meet each resident’s individual needs and abilities, ensuring all assigned staff are fully aware of residents' needs and individual service plans, and that staff are trained in all aspects of dementia care.
  • Works with the Director of Life Enrichment to develop stimulating and fulfilling monthly Life Enhancement Programming Calendars for residents.
  • Collaborates with all related departments in planning and scheduling special events for memory care residents, including resident/family socials and family support groups.
  • Establishes contacts within the community to include the Alzheimer’s Association and all other available resources. Coordinates monthly community Alzheimer’s support groups.
  • Assists sales and marketing with dementia leads
  • Participates in the Manager on Duty rotation
  • Other duties as directed
