About The Position

Mercer University School of Medicine is searching for a non-tenure track Clinical Faculty position to serve as Director of Medical Practice. This position is available on the Columbus campus. The Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified educator with a passion for teaching thorough history and physical exam skills. This teaching position will play a key role in planning for clinical skills curriculum including all clinical skills practices, practicums, and final exams. This M.D. will give lectures or recruit faculty to provide overviews as directed in the curriculum and lead practice sessions. This position will need to oversee and grade any written assignments and clinical investigation curriculum as well as remediate students as needed. Coordination with the entire Medical Practice Team and other Medical Directors on the Macon and Savannah campuses is key. For over thirty years, MUSM has focused on training medical students to fulfill MUSM’s mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and underserved Georgia residents and communities. Requirements

  • Hold a terminal degree (M.D.)
  • Experience in health professions education
  • 10+ years of clinical experience
  • Commitment to helping students refine their clinical reasoning ability and physical exam skills
  • Knowledge of computer based teaching applications (i.e. Learning Space, Canvas)
  • Working knowledge of electronic presentation applications (i.e. PowerPoint)
  • Provide demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with members of the academic and clinical community
  • Strong service orientation and commitment to teamwork
  • Strong organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ultrasound and a willingness to learn point of care ultrasound as directed in the curriculum
