Director of Marketing

Shepherd•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $275,000

About The Position

As Director of Marketing, you will own how Shepherd reaches and engages commercial insurance brokers, both online and in person. Brokers are Shepherd’s distribution channel, and the company sees an opportunity to approach marketing in commercial insurance differently. You will build the brand, develop broker-relevant content, and run events, working closely with underwriting, business development, and leadership to reach the right brokers and drive more submissions. This is a hands-on role: you will set strategy, run programs, experiment with new ideas, and build the team as the company grows. You will lead field marketing and events, content and digital marketing, brand marketing, and measurement and team development. This includes building event programs and repeatable playbooks; creating useful content with subject matter experts; developing campaigns and brand initiatives; measuring programs from broker engagement through first and repeat submissions; and managing priorities, budgets, reporting, employees, agencies, and vendors. The role is suited to a creative, execution-oriented marketing leader who wants to build from the ground up in a relationship-driven B2B business. Shepherd describes its culture through four values: Think big, build big; Win together; Cross the aisle; and Go get it.
