About The Position

The overall purpose of this position is to lead the marketing efforts for Tennessee Tech Athletics. The position is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing strategy, fan engagement, and revenue generation initiatives to support Tennessee Tech Athletics. This individual will lead the marketing and fan experience initiatives to create engaging experiences for students, alumni and fans to include leading the development of marketing and promotional plans and game production timing and scripting, in coordination with coaching staff and external units, to meet or exceed their objectives. This individual works to enhance the Golden Eagle Athletics brand, drive attendance and ticket sales, create meaningful community engagement opportunities, and develop innovative fan experiences that contribute to the department’s overall success. This position will demonstrate competency in establishing relationships with key stakeholders and serve as the primary liaison between the athletics department and various publics, including media, alumni, digital followers, student-athletes, fans, corporate partners and sponsors, community at-large, and the university community. This role requires collaborative work and sport-specific media plan leadership across the department, including coaches, senior leaders and campus entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Sport Administration, Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field with four years of related professional experience.
  • Significant experience in digital and event marketing in collegiate athletics, professional sports or a related field with proven experience in achieving business-related goals.
  • Proven brand building skills, and creative thought process.
  • Experience with multi-channel marketing, including web, social, mobile and e-mail marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated proven knowledge of web analytics such as SEO, Google Analytics, AdWords.
  • Experience working with email marketing platforms and knowledge of tracking effective analytics.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and concepts and methodology of marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-year, multi-platform marketing strategy that encompasses the entire Athletic Department with the goal of increasing attendance using creative marketing techniques, events, advertising, design and communications.
  • Partner with the Golden Eagle Ticket Office to integrate new marketing into existing tools and systems.
  • Act as creator and executor of real-time brand content and communications targeted to customers and followers during all live events, which may be outside of normal business hours, including weekends.
  • Work with Athletic Communications office to manage the strategy, creation and distribution of content for Golden Eagle Athletics social media accounts for all Athletics accounts.
  • Track and analyze social/digital metrics to deliver reports that present content and performance, along with trends for the purpose optimization and goal setting.
  • Oversee or supervise all aspects of promotional game management for all sports, including but not limited to management of public address and message board announcements, coordination of large-scale video display, coordination of in-game music, rotating signage during events and management of on-court/field promotional activities.
  • Assist in the design, development and implementation of promotional materials for all sports.
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that increases brand awareness, cross promotes ticket sales for all sports, increases fan participation that focuses on initiating and building relationships as well as influencing fan behavior.
  • Build and manage the fan database through CRM and email marketing.
  • Act as the liaison between Athletics and the student body and student government, build relationships with department throughout campus to promote strategic partnerships and increase student attendance at athletics events.
  • Oversee brand standards and ensure consistency across all athletics communications.
  • Act as liaison between Athletics Marketing and Taymar. Integrate mutual objectives including but not limited to: theme nights, promotional activities, distribution of sponsored giveaways, social media, and in-game recognitions.
  • Oversee game operations personnel and in-game promotional staff for all ticketed sports throughout regular- and post-season events.
  • Supervise Full-time Marketing Staff, and student workers.
