About The Position

The Director of Marketing and Communications serves as TRU’s senior leader for organization-wide brand strategy, organizational positioning, and market expansion. This role sets the vision for how TRU shows up across audiences and geographies, ensuring a unified narrative and coordinated outreach across all service lines. The Director oversees internal and external communications, brand leadership, digital strategy, and organizational storytelling. The role provides executive oversight for TRU’s internal communications and intranet (TRU Dashboard), offers strategic leadership to the Community Engagement Program (formerly Speaker’s Bureau), and partners closely with leadership to ensure all outreach and marketing efforts—across channels, departments, and geographic regions—are aligned and data-informed. The Director directly supervises the Marketing and Community Engagement Manager and the Marketing Communications Coordinator, ensuring coordinated execution of TRU’s marketing, communications, digital, and community engagement strategies. The role also develops high-level messaging and talking points for the Executive Vice President and senior leaders, and leads communication strategy around organizational change, executive priorities, and organization-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, communications, marketing, business or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in marketing/communications or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Requires travel to multiple work locations
  • Must comply with agency health screening and immunization requirements
  • Must be able to demonstrate computer competency

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, accreditation, and PACE/hospice/home health standards preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of enterprise growth strategy – In coordination with business development leadership, owns growth strategy across service lines and drives referral volume, market share expansion, and revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Revenue-linked accountability – Owns marketing-driven KPIs including census growth, referral conversion, digital acquisition, and service-line volume.
  • Brand governance & enterprise-level content strategy – Owns brand standards, message hierarchy, voice, and organization-wide content strategy.
  • Organization-wide digital strategy leadership – Oversees SEO/SEM, paid media, analytics dashboards, digital advertising, website performance, and digital ROI.
  • Data & analytics leadership – Leads analytics infrastructure and performance measurement across marketing, digital, and outreach to support executive decision-making.
  • Budget & financial strategy ownership – Oversees departmental budget, vendor management, and marketing investment strategy tied to organizational financial goals.
  • Executive advisor role – Functions as a strategic communications advisor to the EVP and senior leadership team; leads messaging for organizational change.
  • Crisis communications & brand risk management – Serves as the lead for crisis communications, brand reputation protection, and sensitive/emergent communications advising.
  • Strategic communications leadership for partnerships and community collaborations – Provides strategic communications leadership for TRU’s partnerships and community collaborations to elevate visibility and mission alignment.
  • Donor, development, and fundraising communications – Partners with Director of Development to lead donor communications, sponsorship visibility, and fundraising event marketing.
  • Internal communications systems ownership – Oversees intranet strategy, organizational messaging, and employee communication frameworks.
  • Community engagement and outreach - Provides strategic leadership for TRU’s Community Engagement Program, partnering with cross-functional leaders to coordinate community-facing efforts.
