Keep Our Community Safe, Comfortable & Running at Its Best. Are you a hands-on facilities professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Do you have experience overseeing building systems, preventive maintenance, life-safety compliance, and maintenance teams — and take pride in creating a safe, comfortable environment for others? We want to talk with you! At West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, the Director of Maintenance plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and day-to-day operations of our community. As a 76-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, we provide Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, along with specialized support including hospice care and respite care. In this role, you'll take ownership of the facility's maintenance operations, grounds, equipment, preventive maintenance program, and life-safety systems while leading a team and partnering closely with Administration and departments throughout the facility. This is an opportunity for a maintenance professional who enjoys being both a leader and a problem solver — someone who can plan ahead, respond when unexpected challenges arise, and make sure the people who live and work here have a safe and well-maintained environment every day. Your Work Makes a Difference In a healthcare environment, maintenance is about much more than fixing what's broken. The building systems and equipment you oversee directly support resident safety, comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Reliable heating and cooling, properly functioning plumbing and electrical systems, safe grounds, effective emergency systems, and proactive preventive maintenance all contribute to the care environment our residents depend on. As the Director of Maintenance, you'll oversee the facility's maintenance program while balancing immediate needs with long-term planning. You'll work closely with Administration, nursing, clinical departments, maintenance staff, vendors, and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to resident care. Put Residents at the Center of Your Work Although much of your work happens behind the scenes, the people you support are always at the center of it. Every repair, inspection, safety check, maintenance project, and emergency preparedness activity contributes to the environment in which residents receive care and call home. You'll be expected to consistently protect resident dignity, privacy, rights, safety, and comfort while performing maintenance responsibilities throughout the community. You'll also work closely with residents, families, staff, vendors, and visitors, making communication, professionalism, and exceptional customer service an important part of the role. The Support You Need to Succeed At West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, you'll work closely with the Administrator and facility leadership to identify priorities, address concerns, and plan for the ongoing needs of the community. You'll also have support from Elderwood Administrative Services, including resources related to: Facility operations Safety and life-safety compliance Preventive maintenance Quality assurance Operational planning Professional development Leadership support
