About The Position

The Director of Logistics owns the movement of customer equipment across the DCSL network — from origin pickup, into and between DCSL warehouses, and out to final data center sites. Storage and staging keep equipment safe on the ground; this role makes sure it gets there and leaves on time, intact, and in compliance with every permit and regulation along the way. The Director of Logistics builds and manages the carrier and transportation-provider network, owns routing and dispatch, and is accountable for on-time, damage-free delivery of mission-critical freight. This role also extends DCSL's logistics expertise beyond our own network: it stands up and runs dedicated logistics programs on behalf of OEM and manufacturer partners, managing their transportation needs as a service.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years in transportation/logistics management, freight brokerage, heavy-haul trucking, or supply chain operations, including direct carrier management
• Experience designing, launching, or running a logistics or transportation program on behalf of an OEM, manufacturer, or other outside client — managing it as a service for another company, not only an internal supply chain
• Track record managing DOT/FMCSA compliance and heavy-haul/oversized-load permitting across multiple states
• Experience building and managing a carrier or vendor network, including rate negotiation and ongoing performance management
• Comfortable working in a TMS/WMS or dashboard environment to track freight status and report on performance
• A present-focused operator who runs to hard delivery dates and surfaces schedule risk early rather than letting it slip silently
• Manages carriers and vendors through both influence and direct authority
• Financially disciplined on freight budget and rate negotiation
• Strong cross-functional coordinator, comfortable aligning Program Operations, Warehousing Operations, and outside carriers around a single schedule
• High ownership — treats every load's safety and on-time delivery as personal accountability
• Calm and decisive when a route, permit, or carrier issue threatens a schedule
• Direct communicator with carriers, vendors, and internal teams
• Hard-wired for safety. No delivery deadline justifies a compromised load or a shortcut on compliance.

Nice To Haves

• Background in data center logistics, industrial rigging/machinery moving, or heavy-haul trucking specifically
• Background in third-party logistics (3PL) or managed transportation services built and run for OEM/manufacturer clients
• Experience opening new markets or freight lanes for a company in a high-growth phase
• Familiarity with permitting processes across multiple U.S. states

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a qualified network of heavy-haul carriers, freight brokers, and specialty transportation providers across every DCSL market
• Partner with Integrated Services to maintain the approved provider bench for transportation vendors, setting qualification standards, insurance requirements, and performance expectations
• Negotiate carrier rates, contracts, and service levels to control freight cost without compromising service quality or safety
• Evaluate and onboard new carriers as DCSL expands into new markets or lanes
• Own end-to-end dispatch and routing for inbound and outbound freight across the network
• Coordinate with Program PMs to align transportation schedules with customer commitments and project timelines
• Coordinate with Warehouse PMs and the Director of Warehousing Operations so inbound and outbound freight lines up with dock schedules, staging capacity, and load-out windows
• Plan routing for oversized/overweight heavy-haul loads, securing permits, escorts, and any required state or local approvals
• Own DOT/FMCSA compliance for all DCSL-arranged transportation and hold every carrier accountable to DCSL's safety and regulatory standards
• Maintain current heavy-haul and oversized-load permitting across every market DCSL operates in
• Set and enforce standards for load securement, rigging-for-transport, and handling of high-value, mission-critical equipment in transit
• Partner with the Vice President of Logistics and Integrated Services on incident response and root-cause resolution for any transportation-related safety event
• Own the transportation/freight budget, tracking cost per move, on-time performance, and damage/claims rates
• Report logistics performance metrics to the Vice President of Logistics and Integrated Services, and keep Program and Warehousing Operations leadership informed
• Drive continuous improvement in routing efficiency, carrier performance, and freight cost as the network scales
• Design, launch, and run dedicated logistics programs on behalf of OEM and manufacturer partners, acting as the program owner for these outsourced/managed logistics engagements
• Serve as the senior point of contact for OEM and manufacturer stakeholders on program scope, performance, and growth
• Tailor carrier networks, routing plans, and reporting to each OEM program's equipment, volume, and service requirements
• Build repeatable program frameworks and playbooks so new OEM/manufacturer logistics programs can be stood up quickly as DCSL adds partners
• Track and report program-level performance (cost, on-time delivery, damage rate) for each OEM partner separately, and use it to inform renewal and growth conversations
• Serve as the logistics point of contact for Program PMs, Warehouse PMs, and the Facilities Manager on any equipment movement, escalating issues early
• Support new site launches by scoping transportation lanes, carrier coverage, and permitting requirements for the new market before it goes live
• Help build and refine a standardized logistics playbook as DCSL scales into new markets
