About The Position

Saline Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Laboratory to lead its laboratory services. This high-impact leadership role involves guiding the department’s strategic direction, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Director will develop and implement departmental goals and standards, oversee all aspects of laboratory operations, build and support a strong team, manage departmental budgets, and ensure regulatory readiness. This position requires frequent interaction with internal staff, clinicians, patients, vendors, and external partners, and involves handling sensitive and confidential information. The role also requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delegate effectively, and maintain clear communication in complex or sensitive situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • ASCP or AMT certification

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement departmental goals and standards that align with organizational, clinical, and ethical expectations.
  • Oversee all aspects of laboratory operations—from patient testing quality and workflow efficiency to technology utilization and service levels.
  • Build and support a strong team through effective hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
  • Manage departmental budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure responsible use of resources.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, maintain regulatory readiness, and uphold compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare standards.
  • Exercise independent judgment, make informed decisions that impact departmental operations, and contribute to broader organizational initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delegate effectively, and maintain clear communication in complex or sensitive situations.
