About The Position

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced nursing leader to serve as the Director of Labor & Delivery. This role provides strategic and operational oversight for the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality care for mothers, newborns, and families. The Director will be responsible for driving clinical excellence, staff development, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. This role works in close collaboration with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary departments to support optimal patient outcomes and an exceptional experience for both patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of Labor & Delivery clinical experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive healthcare leadership or management experience required
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado or eligibility to obtain
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required

  • Additional maternal or neonatal certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Labor & Delivery service line
  • Ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered maternal and newborn care
  • Drive departmental goals, workflow optimization, and operational excellence
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing clinical and nursing teams
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive team culture
  • Lead education, coaching, and professional development initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement strategies
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal specialists, and hospital leadership
  • Participate in care coordination and interdisciplinary planning
  • Strengthen communication across all clinical departments
  • Oversee staffing models, scheduling, and workforce allocation
  • Manage departmental budgets and operational efficiency
  • Support strategic planning and service line growth initiatives
