About The Position

The Director of IT is responsible for the systems and technology for the hotel and related business units. The primary customers of the Director are the hotel guests and clients, followed by the management and staff. The Director’s goal is to provide excellent services that delight the guest, support customer requirements and satisfy business objectives in alignment with the culture and values of Langham Hospitality Group.

Requirements

  • 6 years equivalent work experience in Information Systems and Project Management
  • A mature professional, technically proficient and experienced with hotel / sales offices systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks
  • Skills and abilities to effectively manage supplier and vendor relationships
  • An analytical approach to problems and a regard for detail and accuracy
  • Able to provide help and support to both guests and colleagues
  • Capable of seeking solutions and answers utilizing both group and external sources
  • A self-motivated individual able to identify and implement new technology related procedures that will improve guest service, operations and profitability
  • Able to clearly communicate in both technical and non-technical terms.
  • All relevant certifications acquired and up to date
  • Adaptive and flexible (changing technologies, processes, environments)
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage hardware and software purchases, installation & support
  • Provide client and guest support
  • Manage IT&T property inventory
  • Available for guest room and meeting room technology support
  • Support the justification of the new initiatives with the Executive Committee and Department Heads.
  • Supports other Department Heads and Human Resources in coordinating on-going application training and ensuring that systems are used properly, productively so that full benefits can be realized.
  • Manage the on-going maintenance and support of the hotel systems and ensure that appropriate maintenance contracts are in place. This includes updating application and operating software to the latest releases as advised by the Langham IT or accredited vendors.
  • Ensure that the Policies and Procedures for the use of computer equipment are known and adhered to by the hotel staff.
  • Ensure that all legal requirements pertaining to software and software licenses are adhered to and that no illegal software is being used in the hotel.
  • Ensure that all privacy and other legislation pertaining to client data are adhered to and that no system usage would jeopardize the reputation of Langham Hotels or cause a prosecution of the hotel to be considered.
  • Ensure that a structured escalation procedure exists to provide 24 hour support to the hotel guests and staff.
  • Ensure that each piece of computer equipment and the computer room are kept clean and tidy and that all documents, master software and spares are organized in such a way that they are readily available.
  • Ensure that computer software licenses are kept and suitably filed
  • Ensure that a Business Continuity Plan for the hotel is written, verified and revised as needed.
  • Ensure that the systems are physically secure and data is password protected.
  • Ensure that Antivirus software is installed, kept up to date and operational, so as to protect the hotel / office systems.
  • Ensure that the systems are regularly backed up and backups are taken off-site to a secure storage area.
  • Ensure that access to the hotel systems are protected from unauthorized access.
  • Follow the guidelines given in any standards and other documentation produced by the region or the group.
  • Ensure all local procedures and reporting comply with all Langham policies and procedures and assist internal and external audit personnel in validating compliance.
  • Arrange for purchases of hardware and software, including cabling, training and installation for approved projects, using approved local suppliers and competitive tendering under guidelines issued the hotel.
  • Responsible for all IT related projects that happen within the hotel.
  • Maintain safe conditions in work area and other associated areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Conduct self in a most professional manner at all times to reflect the Hotel standards
