The Director of IT would oversee and manage the TMS and technology operations of our logistics business. This individual would be responsible for the company’s TMS, optimizing existing systems, managing vendors, and ensuring technology is fully leveraged to support operational efficiency and growth. The role will work closely with the existing IT team reporting directly to the Sr. Director of IT while also supporting operations and Agents across multiple levels of the company. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of managing TMS operations while also stepping in when necessary to support systems, hardware, and implementation initiatives. This position is a hybrid role typically in office 3 days a week (Monday-Wednesday) and work remote (Thursday-Friday).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
3-5+ years’ experience in management or Director level IT role.
3-5+ years’ experience with Windows based machines and servers.
3-5+ years’ experience Microsoft office troubleshooting.
3-5 years experience with in depth knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management System) in a cloud hosted environment McLeod Power Broker or similar TMS (required).
3-5 years experience with TMS integrations such as EDI, ELD/Track and Trace (Trucker Tools), Carrier Onboarding and Qualifications (Highway), and other load status notification software.
Must be able to travel to other Company locations as needed (approximately 10%).
Logistics background required.

Nice To Haves

API and Power BI knowledge.
ConnectWise Manage and Automate experience or similar RMM.
McLeod FlowLogix experience a plus.
An analytical thinker, resolve problems with a strong focus on detail.

Excellent communication skills (listening, spoken, and written).
Strong organizational skills to manage time and workload independently.
Experience working with Business Intelligence tools and reporting platforms.
Strong experience managing technology vendors and evaluating cost vs. value
Understanding of systems supporting: Trucking, Brokerage, and Warehouse Operations.
Understanding of international security protocols and data governance.
Managing small team in absence of Sr. Director of IT.
Comfortable in a hands-on IT leadership role.
Technically strong and operationally minded.

Responsibilities

Writing code in SQL.
Responding to employee and customer submitted tickets, which may include after-hours requests through utilizing a RMM software platform.
Providing hardware, application, and VoIP support to local and remote users.
Supporting Windows OS based machines/servers locally and remotely.
Develop and execute TMS/IT strategies that support business operations and growth.
Providing support for VMWare tools (RDP/VPN connection to cloud hosted servers).
Creating SOPs and maintaining procedures and reports for the entire organization.
Support implementation of tools that enhance operational visibility and reporting.
Gain a deep understanding of existing platforms and ensure the company is maximizing their functionality.
Evaluate current systems and identify opportunities for improvement, consolidation, or automation.
Manage relationships with technology vendors and external providers.
Ensure proper IT security protocols.
Maintain system integrity, uptime, and data security.
Oversee system updates, hardware management, and software lifecycle management.
