About The Position

The Director of Technology is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and overseeing the Club’s information technology and audio/visual systems. This role involves evaluating departmental requests for system enhancements, managing system performance, and developing the Club's technology plan in alignment with its overall operating plan. The Director will also focus on reducing IT operating costs through new technologies and innovative strategies, coordinating IT support, and providing second-level support for various systems including PC, POS, and accounting systems. Additionally, the role includes establishing hardware and software standards, evaluating vendor products, negotiating contracts, and managing local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless (Wi-Fi) infrastructure. Responsibilities extend to managing email servers, firewalls, routers, user accounts, and disaster recovery plans. The Director will also oversee technology-related employee training, manage IT and audio/visual budgets, approve invoices, and coordinate voice communication systems and office automation equipment. This position requires excellent communication skills with members, co-workers, and management, adherence to regulations and policies, and maintaining a professional demeanor. Key responsibilities also include IT and A/V infrastructure planning for construction/renovation projects, managing club-wide audio and music systems, security camera systems, and collaborating with the Catering team to ensure A/V needs for events are met.

Requirements

Knowledge of the operating characteristics, capabilities, limitations, and service requirements of personal computers, peripheral equipment, and network operating systems.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, server environments, SQL, and related technologies.
Prior managerial, business administration, or ownership experience.
Extensive knowledge of routers, networking infrastructure, and firewalls.
Strong knowledge of the implementation of and adherence to PCI regulations and requirements.
Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server environments.
Knowledge of Club operating procedures and methods, with specific emphasis on Food and Beverage operations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 environments.
Knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology and hospitality technology.
Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare reports.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, engineering, or related field or an Associates Degree with 10 years of related experience.
At least 5 years of on the job experience dealing with computers, phones, and networks in a country club, hotel, restaurant, or related industry.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

Evaluates departmental requests for system enhancements and modifications and performs or oversees such enhancements and modifications, as appropriate.
Evaluates system and application performance and determines whether applications meet the current and future objectives of the users.
Provides technical expertise and direction in developing the Club’s technology plan as it relates to the Club’s overall operating plan.
Plans for future hardware and software requirements and the resources needed to meet the objectives and goals of the technology plan.
Reduces IT operating costs by implementing new technologies and utilizing innovative strategies.
Coordinates and manages information systems support; establishes priorities for user requests and new projects; and provides second-level support for operating problems, including hardware and software issues involving personal computer systems, point-of-sale (POS) systems, accounting systems, and other business systems.
Develops minimum hardware and software standards; analyzes and evaluates vendor-supplied software and hardware products in accordance with Club requirements and specifications; recommends new or replacement products, as appropriate; and negotiates and/or administers contracts for the acquisition, installation, and implementation of vendor products.
Provides direction to third-party vendors regarding the preparation and maintenance of on-site installations.
Responsible for the analysis, engineering, installation, and maintenance of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless (Wi-Fi) hardware and software.
Ensures that network physical components, including cables, switches, modems, network cards, and other network devices, are operating correctly.
Installs, manages, and upgrades network operating systems and network protocols, including TCP/IP.
Performs administrative functions on the Club’s local area network and within the Club’s lines of business, including user access, file management, resource sharing, and system security.
Manages email servers, firewalls, routers, and user accounts.
Manages disaster prevention and recovery plans through systems documentation, authorized-use policies, antivirus strategies, and backup procedures.
Identifies and manages technology-related employee orientation and training programs.
Manages data processing, telecommunications, and audio/visual operating and capital budgets.
Approves all related invoices and works with departments to structure technology capital purchases based on the overall Club technology plan.
Coordinates and manages the administration, upgrades, and service of voice communication systems.
Coordinates and manages contract negotiations, acquisition, and connectivity for office automation equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and duplicating equipment.
Communicates with members, co-workers, management, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor that reflects a positive image of The Polo Club.
Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Coordinates and manages information technology and audio/visual infrastructure planning and installation for Club construction and renovation projects.
Coordinates and manages the operation, maintenance, and performance of the Club-wide audio and music systems.
Coordinates and manages the operation, maintenance, and functionality of the Club's security camera systems.
Collaborates with the Catering team to ensure audio/visual equipment and technology services meet BEO and client requirements for Club events and functions.
