About The Position

Playground Global is a venture capital firm backing the most technically ambitious founders of working at the edge of engineering and science. With $1.2 billion under management, Playground invests in early-stage companies defining the future of next-generation compute, automation, energy, and engineered biology. We’re hiring a Director of Investor Relations to manage and deepen relationships with our Limited Partners ("LPs"), while also playing a key role in expanding our global investor base. You’ll split your time between actively sourcing potential leads and future investors, leading fundraising roadshows, and supporting fundraising operations, including crafting due diligence materials and driving process improvements. The position requires strong financial, written and oral communication. It is ideal if the candidate has venture capital experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience assisting in fundraising for a venture capital firm, deep-tech industry and startups, ideally in or other alternative asset management or investment management/investment banking.
  • Experienced in helping to secure significant investments from individuals, family offices, foundations, endowments, consultants, and other institutional investors.
  • Created and managed a data room, CRM, and pipelines.
  • Assisted in managing investor relationships with an existing network of potential investors.
  • Co-led events for investors, portfolio companies, and the broader network.
  • Possess superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to convert complex financial information into engaging and impactful messages for current and prospective investors.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for building and crafting the evolving vision for this role.
  • Can work independently and manage competing deadlines while valuing collaboration and input from others.
  • A strategic thinker, effective communicator, and expert in startup fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Actively source, outreach, and build relationships with potential leads and future investors to ensure a diversified community of investors.
  • Lead fundraising roadshows related to lead generation and geographic ecosystem development/maintenance.
  • Analyze data and KPIs related to fund and investment performance to support fundraising efforts and ongoing communications with LPs.
  • Represent the company, as appropriate, at investor forums to build and maintain relationships.
  • Steward existing LPs to develop an enduring capital base capable of supporting future Playground Global funds.
  • Contribute to an engaged, high-quality, and meaningful investor experience, including Playground Global's annual LP meeting, annual impact report, LP dinners, and additional events.
  • Support fundraising efforts, including crafting presentation materials and analyses for investor outreach that effectively tell the Playground Global story.
  • Coauthor the data room materials, including but not limited to ILPA due diligence questionnaire presentation materials. Ensure all materials are updated on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Assist in promptly addressing LP data inquiries/information requests. Respond to requests from external sources such as investors, consultants, and prospective investors, including data-related information and written materials.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure deliverables are produced in a timeline manner.
  • Drive process improvements across fundraising and investor relations activities, including identifying ways to effectively scale fund and investment reporting to address LP data requests.
  • Help create distribution lists, build the CRM, and create efficient operational policies and procedures.
  • Support investor events including Playground’s Annual General Meeting, CEO Summit, and international roadshows.
  • Conduct thorough research on prospective LPs, identify potential aligned, high-capacity investors, and prepare background briefs before meetings.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range is $300,000 to $350,000.
