About The Position

The Hill School is seeking a Director of International Studies and Programming to plan and coordinate administrative and auxiliary activities for international students and families. This role involves fundraising, participating in committees and conferences to strengthen partnerships with international constituents, organizing admission receptions, and setting up remote learning centers. The position also includes supporting students with classroom work, traveling internationally for admission and fundraising trips, updating educational program content, addressing public audiences, counseling students, advising junior and senior female students in a dorm, organizing dorm activities, and assisting with proposals and policies for cultural education initiatives. Additionally, the role supports on-campus programs, student-run clubs, and engages with families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, International Education, Educational Leadership/Management or related field.
  • Willingness to work in a private boarding school within an international setting, while also participating in student life and institutional giving.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the administrative and auxiliary activities for international students, including international travel supporting institutional giving and parent engagement.
  • Bi-lingual in Chinese to assist with translation and communication; content maintenance of WeChat, What's App and other on-line platforms for international families.
  • High skill in cross-cultural differences and sensitivities around donor relations, charitable giving and supporting an American boarding school from another country.
  • Ability to translate complex charitable giving discussions.
  • Ability to travel internationally for up to 3 weeks annually for fundraising and international alumnie and parent relations work.
  • Must have legal authority to work in U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordinating the administrative and auxiliary activities for The Hill School for international students and families.
  • Conducting and participating in fundraising, committees, and conferences designed to promote and strengthen the partnership with international constituents.
  • Organizing admission receptions, and setting up remote learning centers.
  • Supporting students with classroom work by helping them understand instructions and stay focused.
  • Traveling with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School for Advancement for annual admission and fundraising trips to Asia, including scheduling and facilitating parent meetings and student interviews.
  • Updating the content of educational programs to ensure that students are being trained with equipment and processes that are technologically current.
  • Addressing public audiences to explain program objectives and to elicit support.
  • Counseling and providing guidance to students and acting as an advisor to junior and senior female students in a dorm.
  • Organizing dorm night activities and meetings and managing a dorm log.
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals, program policies and goals for the school's cultural education initiatives, including organizing celebration and events to support various international groups from different countries and backgrounds, and help foster an inclusive community for all students.
  • Assisting with editing instructional materials on-campus programs for students, student-run clubs, including on-boarding training, meeting arrangements, club programming advising, and leadership recruitment.
  • Engaging with families and responding to general inquiries.
