About The Position

The Director of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership for the Coalition’s information technology function. This position is responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, scalability, and effectiveness of the Coalition’s technology infrastructure, systems, and services. The Director leads IT staff and oversees network and server infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud systems, technology projects, compliance, risk management, service management, and technology budgeting while developing strategies and standards that support organizational growth, operational efficiency, and effective service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in information technology operations.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing or administering technology infrastructure, networks, servers, or enterprise systems.
  • Three (3) or more years of leadership, supervisory, or technology-management experience.
  • Experience overseeing cybersecurity systems, controls, policies, and risk-management practices.
  • Experience developing and managing technology budgets and expenditures.
  • Experience managing wired and wireless network infrastructure, connectivity, telecommunications, and network redundancy.
  • Experience administering or overseeing Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise licensing.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, permissions, access controls, authentication, and user-account management.
  • Experience managing virtualized server environments or virtual machine clusters and securing critical organizational data.
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business-continuity practices.
  • Experience managing major technology projects involving infrastructure, software implementation, budgets, timelines, vendors, and organizational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, networks, cybersecurity, telecommunications, databases, storage systems, and related enterprise technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to executive leadership, Board members, program directors, managers, and frontline staff.

Nice To Haves

  • ITIL, PMP, CITP, or other relevant technology or project-management certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Coalition’s information technology operations, infrastructure, systems, services, and support functions.
  • Hires, supervises, develops, and leads Information Technology staff.
  • Develops and implements IT strategies, policies, procedures, and standards that support organizational goals and operational needs.
  • Develops and manages the Information Technology budget and monitors technology expenditures.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, performance, reliability, and redundancy of the Coalition’s wired and wireless network infrastructure, internet connectivity, and communications between facilities.
  • Oversees cybersecurity operations, including firewalls, endpoint security, multifactor authentication, email security, identity and access controls, and other security measures.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates technology and cybersecurity risks.
  • Oversees backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology incident-response planning.
  • Oversees administration and governance of Microsoft 365 and related cloud systems, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Teams Phone, Intune, licensing, and device management.
  • Oversees server and infrastructure operations, including Active Directory, Group Policy, virtual environments, permissions, access controls, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Reviews technology infrastructure and network architecture to identify potential points of failure, vulnerabilities, capacity concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of technology infrastructure, server functions, system dependencies, critical services, and network architecture.
  • Oversees IT service management and support operations to ensure timely, consistent, and effective technology services to Coalition staff.
  • Assesses organizational technology needs and recommends appropriate hardware, software, infrastructure, and technology solutions.
  • Plans and oversees technology projects, including infrastructure improvements, facility expansions, Wi-Fi upgrades, system implementations, and technology migrations.
  • Establishes and monitors project timelines, budgets, deliverables, responsibilities, and stakeholder communications.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with technology vendors, consultants, service providers, and other external partners.
  • Oversees technology-related compliance activities and supports the Coalition’s risk-management requirements.
  • Coordinates technology training and supports the effective adoption of systems and technology throughout the organization.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve staff productivity, efficiency, collaboration, and job satisfaction through technology.
  • Communicates technology information, system changes, risks, outages, and alerts to departments and leadership as appropriate.
  • Contributes to Coalition leadership efforts and supports organization-wide operational initiatives as needed.
