The Director of Individual Giving oversees the individual fundraising team and is responsible for developing and implementing the individual giving strategy as part of the annual BU fundraising strategy. They mentor fundraising staff ensuring a robust pipeline of PG/MG prospects, discovery work, and planned giving. The Director of Individual Giving will establish metrics for each fundraiser, be held accountable to their team’s fundraising metrics/goals and will keep their direct reports accountable to their individual and team fundraising metrics/goals. They work with the Director of Philanthropy Operations to establish and track fundraising metrics/measures, and lead indicators of progress and success including PbD Continuum and the Pipeline Expansion Program (and others in the future). The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for ensuring programmatic work is a collaborative and well-integrated effort within philanthropy and across TNC. The Director of Individual Giving provides advice, guidance, and oversees training programs related to the major gift fundraising functions, including donor visits with their direct reports. They will lead diverse activities, develop complex processes, project outcomes, and initiate solutions to improve effectiveness. They will serve as team leader for the enhancement of systems and tools used by the team, including new AI tools per TNC guidance. The Director leverages constructive and effective relationships with a wide range of people, including senior management, public and private sector colleagues, and partners including financial/legal advisors. They reinforce consistency in the organization's policies and procedures, provide direction related to their relevant field(s) The Director of Individual Giving understands and applies complex principles of developing donor strategies and builds strong relationships with a small portfolio (15-30) of new and current donors and prospects. They will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects/donors and are responsible for achieving their individual fundraising metrics as set annually with the Director of Philanthropy. The Director of Individual Giving will work with BU leadership as a moves manager as appropriate and manage assigned trustee relationships and/or volunteer engagement. They will be responsible for direct asks to both global and local priorities to meet funding needs. They discuss assets proficiently and listen for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts and trade lands. They will incorporate blended gifts and gifts of assets in proposals/concepts to donors. They are capable of discussing the priorities of the Conservancy. They will work across chapters and programs and manage a referral network. They understand organizational budgets and are proficient in utilizing this knowledge to build proposal budgets. The Director of Individual Giving will have knowledge of charitable giving and Donor Advised Funds and be able to discuss charitable options with donors. They will be required to use the Conservancy’s donor database.
