The National Health Law Program (NHeLP) protects and advances the health rights of low income and underserved individuals. NHeLP engages in national, state, and local advocacy efforts, including analyses of federal and state laws, policy advocacy, litigation, continuing legal education, and individual technical support. We work with lawyers and advocates, community based entities, federal and state policymakers, health care providers, and clients. NHeLP is committed to health equity—ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to be healthy—and to cultivating an internal environment that empowers an exceptional and diverse staff. The Individual Giving team is part of NHeLP's Mission Advancement Team (MAT), which brings together Individual Giving, Foundation Partnerships, Communications, Pro bono, and Knowledge Management & Innovation to advance the organization's mission through integrated fundraising, strategic communications, and organizational learning. Together, MAT is responsible for building the relationships, resources, systems, and visibility that sustain and expand NHeLP's impact and advance its mission. Within MAT, the Individual Giving team raises and stewards flexible revenue that supports NHeLP's mission by building durable relationships with individual donors, volunteers, Board members, ambassadors, law firm networks, and mission-aligned prospects. The Director is responsible for the individual giving strategy, major gifts growth, donor engagement, and volunteer fundraising activation. The Senior Manager is responsible for development operations, annual fund execution, stewardship, and the mid-level donor pipeline. The Director oversees the Senior Manager. Together, the team is responsible for expanding the major donor pipeline, increasing retention and upgrade rates, strengthening donor systems, and growing the program. The Director also plays a key role in fostering a culture of philanthropy across NHeLP by helping staff, leadership, Board members, and volunteers understand and participate in donor engagement, stewardship, and fundraising efforts. Expand and lead NHeLP's individual giving program with a focus on major gifts growth, donor strategy, and a scalable donor pipeline. The Director serves as a key ambassador for NHeLP, translating complex legal and policy work into compelling fundraising messages that inspire philanthropic investment in the organization's mission. The Director will act as the strategic leader of the individual giving function and design the portfolio, pipeline, and revenue strategy. As part of that work, the Director leads solicitation strategies and secures major gifts, while partnering closely with the Executive Director, Senior Director of Mission Advancement, Board and Development Committee on key relationships. Success in this role will be reflected in growth in major gift revenue, donors giving, Board and Executive Director fundraising engagement, an expanded major donor pipeline, and improved donor retention and upgrade rates.
