About The Position

The Human Resources Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all human resources functions while actively participating in and executing key departmental activities. This role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring the effective delivery of HR services in alignment with organizational goals. This position requires a working director who combines high-level strategic thinking with day-to-day execution of HR functions. The Director must be comfortable operating in a lean or resource-constrained environment, where direct involvement in routine HR activities is necessary. Success in this role requires the ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on administrative and operational tasks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource manage mentor related field; Master’s degree in human resources or related field preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP required
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and implementation experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in human resources required

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive human resources strategies, policies, and programs that support organizational objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, employee relations, and compliance matters.
  • Ensure alignment of HR initiatives with the organization’s mission, values, and long-term goals.
  • Manage recruitment and selection processes, including posting positions, screening candidates, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Administer employee relations activities, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Oversee Benefits administration, payroll coordination, and compensation analysis.
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure accuracy of employee data and reporting.
  • Prepare and manage personnel records, compliance documentation, and required reporting.
  • Supervise and support HR staff, while also directly handling workload as needed due to department size or operational needs.
  • Establish priorities and allocate resources to ensure timely delivery of HR services.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Lead audits, reporting, and investigations as required.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives, training, and development programs.
  • Comply with all applicable training requirements
  • Comply with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures
  • Comply with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs
  • Contribute positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team
  • Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the St. Vincent de Paul CARES Mission
