About The Position

Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company providing a unique range of analytical testing services. The Director of Human Resources will support the company by promoting, communicating, and implementing human resources strategies and initiatives. This role involves building influential relationships with Executive Management, Directors, and Managers, acting as a strategic partner and employee advocate. The Director will oversee all HR professionals, provide guidance on employment law, coordinate performance management, and resolve employee relations issues. They will also offer advanced guidance on HR policies and procedures, including payroll, benefits, compensation, employee development, and recruiting, while collaborating with the National Service Center and Clinical Diagnostics HR Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of professional Human Resources experience required.
  • 3+ years of management required.
  • Broad knowledge of business operations and impact of HR actions.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to foster team building with mutual respect, Associate development and problem solving abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of budget and fiscal responsibility.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence leadership and others outside of span.
  • Ability to partner directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on employee relations issues and/or a variety of personnel matters.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as job dictates.
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding matters of significance.
  • Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization.

  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs, particularly Excel.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as an HR Generalist or Business Partner preferred.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning of the organization’s workforce, collaborating with senior leadership on staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Planning, leading, developing, coordinating, and implementing HR policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys.
  • Maintaining knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies, and applying this knowledge to policy and practice changes.
  • Supporting business objectives through the development of personnel strategies as a member of the Executive Team.
  • Maintaining a strong network of HR support within Eurofins and US Clinical Diagnostics to ensure a responsive HR team.
  • Acting as a practical visionary, collaborating with Executives on company initiatives and providing input on strategic vision and business goals.
  • Providing direction and educating management on functional HR areas such as recruiting, performance management, organizational development, compensation, and Associate relations.
  • Leading conversations with the Executive Team and Management to ensure the efficacy of policies and procedures.
  • Creating and maintaining an inclusive, positive, and productive workplace environment.
  • Leading the planning, coordination, and execution of employee engagement initiatives.
  • Designing and developing organizational efficiencies based on HR needs and gap assessments.
  • Demonstrating strong understanding of the corporate financial plan and managing personnel spend.
  • Overseeing hiring and changes to key personnel in accordance with Eurofins’ KEL process.
  • Assessing hiring practices and retention strategies and developing methods to retain talent.
  • Developing overall corporate compensation philosophy to ensure market appropriateness and budget control.
  • Overseeing development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring legal compliance with all programs, policies, and practices.
  • Understanding and communicating industry and legal trends, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Reporting on the progress of the HR department to stakeholders and other Directors.
  • Counseling Associates and management on career development.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership skills through supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Directing due diligence and operational tasks of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Managing conflicts and issues regarding matters of significance.
  • Making hiring and termination decisions.
  • Utilizing a strong network of contacts both inside and outside the Company.
  • Representing the department and the organization favorably.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.
  • Demonstrating exceptional stewardship of Company resources and making data-driven decisions.
