About The Position

The Director of Human Resources will lead the Human Resources function and support all areas of Bradley by enhancing systems that attract, retain, develop, motivate, and reward a productive and engaged workforce. You will bring HR functional and leadership expertise in strategic planning, organizational development, employee relations, performance management, staff recruitment, benefits administration, payroll, organizational development, and operations management. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director is a member of the senior leadership team. You will interact frequently with attorneys and staff in all levels of the organization as well as external vendors and consultants. You have excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with a strong track record of building successful and effective HR teams. You are collaborative and eager to work with others to develop business process improvements that enable performance, manage change, and promote excellence.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of broad-based human resources experience in highly sophisticated legal, professional services, or financial services environment.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience supervising employees and leading teams.
  • Experience leading various aspects of the strategic human resources function, including, talent management, performance management, organizational development, compensation, and benefits, HRIS, and employee relations.
  • Outstanding presentation, writing, verbal, and relationship building skills; poise, gravitas, and the ability to lead through influence rather than direct control – creating consensus-based support for business strategies and decisions.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and sound judgment when handling highly sensitive information and situations.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and exhibit professional conduct in all settings and situations.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills; the ability to develop comprehensive short- and long- term strategic plans from broadly stated objectives.
  • Dynamic energy level and impeccable work ethic; willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and work closely with colleagues and team members.
  • Proven experience driving innovation and continuous improvement in strategic human resources functions.
  • A strong background in human resources information systems and associated technology, with a preference for experience with Dayforce.
  • A consultative, collaborative, and highly client-service oriented approach.
  • Proven success recruiting, mentoring, managing, and developing top-tier professionals, and building and leading high-performance teams.
  • An undergraduate degree in human resources, business administration or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Human Resources team.
  • Partner with executive team to influence and develop and execute the Firm’s strategy and support the Firm’s core values. Create systems, messages and processes that drive the desired culture and behaviors within the organization.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Conduct and oversee employee investigations. Function as a mediator in employee conflicts.
  • Provide guidance to leaders in matters related to HR policies and procedures, disciplinary counseling, and employee status changes. Serve as a neutral third party, delivering customer service to internal customers.
  • Initiate and administer annual performance evaluation process; work with management on employee development plans and disciplinary actions.
  • Drive the Firm’s staff engagement initiatives.
  • Develop or assist in developing Firm announcements, facilitate and coordinate management meetings. Develop initiatives to increase cross-function teambuilding and communication.
  • Work with management to develop job descriptions and articulate critical work tasks. Oversee recruitment and selection of employees to fill vacant positions, continuously improving employee bench strength and capabilities. Oversee separation process and provide guidance and strategy recommendations to management on how to minimize turnover and improve employee engagement. Review exit interviews for themes and trends and review with senior leadership.
  • Work with the Firm’s training and professional development departments to identify learning needs and recommend new learning and development strategies for Firm staff.
  • Engage management in identifying and developing the next generation of business leaders.
  • Identify and encourage process improvement within the HR department and across all departments. Facilitate collaboration and encourage increased utilization of technology and process.
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions. Ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. This includes EEO-1 Reporting. Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations. Respond to EEOC charges and Unemployment claims. Engage Firm counsel as needed and keep senior leadership apprised of potential litigation and other high-risk issues.
  • Responsible for staff salary administration and bonus processes. Recommend salary adjustments and monitor compliance with Wage and Hour law. Utilize external compensation data to benchmark wages to ensure marketplace competitiveness. Work with senior management on incentive compensation arrangements and oversee ongoing administration of plans once set.
  • Oversee payroll and related filing processes to ensure accurate and legally compliant payment of wages in all geographies in which the Firm operates.
  • Work the Firm’s Benefits Committee, insurance consultant and third parties to administer benefit programs including life, health, dental and disability insurance, and 401(k) retirement plan. Strategize on medical plan design changes and other cost saving initiatives. Promote wellness and well-being through applicable benefits and activities.
  • Oversee reporting of and ensure adequate investigation into all employee workplace injuries. See that modified work arrangements, medical treatments, and return to work authorization are handled promptly and correctly.
  • Oversee employee leave administration in accordance with FMLA and other applicable regulations. Ensure compliance with ADA by engaging in the interactive process with employees seeking reasonable accommodations.
  • Prepare annual HR budget and monitor expenses. Assist in planning and budgeting new positions in other departments. Monitor overtime and provide reports to managers.
  • Use data from HR/Payroll system to drive strategic business decisions. Provide reports to leadership and other groups as requested.
