About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all HR functions across three chemical distribution facilities and 1 analytical laboratory located in three states. This role reports to the VP of Finance and ensures alignment of HR strategy with organizational goals while maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting a safe workplace, and fostering a strong culture of employee engagement. The Director will oversee HR operations, talent management, labor law compliance, employee relations & culture development, safety collaboration, and workforce development across all sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in an HR role.
  • 3+ years in a leadership position.

  • HRCI or SHRM certification.

Responsibilities

  • Align with organizational values.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to understand the organization's long-term mission and goals and identify ways to support this mission through the development and execution of the overall people and culture strategy, structure, systems, processes, and tools for multiple locations.
  • Apply tactical skills for HR initiative implementation by acting as a trusted advisor to the executive team, a coach and mentor to the human resources team, and a collaborator to leaders across the organization.
  • Bring contemporary approaches to talent acquisition and retention, including new skills and strategies to navigate dynamic markets and challenging talent landscapes, and identify opportunities for internal talent development.
  • Establish credibility as an effective listener and problem solver of people issues by getting to know employees on a personal level.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to leaders to advise and mediate employee relations situations, ensuring fairness and consistency while recognizing employee flourishing.
  • Lead employee events and engagement efforts to create a strong employee-focused culture.
  • Communicate effectively with an open-door policy to relay and disseminate company-wide and departmental information.
  • Oversee HR IS system, audits, reporting, recordkeeping, and policy compliance across all facilities.
  • Continually evaluate policies and programs to remain competitive within the industry, including compensation, benefits, and career development.
  • Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation and benefit programs.
  • Oversee the execution of all programs including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, supplemental medical, 401(k) plan, PTO, FMLA, and unemployment compensation.
