About The Position

Community Impact is looking for a Director of HR to help lead their people function. This role is responsible for building structure and managing the HR operations of the company. It is a senior HR position that acts as a strategic partner to leadership and a hands-on operator responsible for full-cycle employee relations, compensation, and benefits. The company is described as a small but mighty team, and they are looking for someone who thrives close to the work. The role is part of a two-person HR team, offering real ownership with minimal red tape. The hiring range is $105–115K based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with real time spent as an HR Generalist or HRBP.
  • Hands-on experience running full-cycle payroll and managing FMLA or other leave administration.
  • Strong business acumen and the confidence to coach and influence managers, up to and including leadership.
  • Solid working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and conflict resolution.
  • Comfortable producing job descriptions, policies, and other HR documents that hold up on their own.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, and HR/HRIS systems.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience with Paylocity or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform.
  • Prior experience building or formalizing an HR function at a small or growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze HR policies and practices and bring forward changes when something isn't working.
  • Act as the go-between for HR and the rest of the company, translating strategy into practices people actually understand.
  • Translate business goals into actionable HR initiatives, including performance management systems and workforce planning.
  • Be the first call when an employee or manager has a concern. Lead full employee lifecycle.
  • Own leave administration, including FMLA, and keep policies aligned with federal and state law.
  • Keep the employee handbook current and make sure policy actually matches practice.
  • Oversee compensation planning and benefits administration.
  • Back up for payroll as needed.
  • Support workforce planning, hiring strategy, onboarding, and the performance review cycle.
  • Drive culture initiatives and champion diversity and inclusion.
  • Manage, mentor, and guide the People Operations Specialist to ensure seamless HR service delivery, including building and delivering training on HR topics and guiding the team through change management as we grow.
  • Model CI's values and Core 10 competencies in every interaction.
  • Look for ways to cut friction out of HR processes and put new tools, including AI, to work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
