About The Position

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for leading all housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and associates. This position oversees department performance, staffing, budgets, quality standards, inventory, and training while working closely with other hotel departments to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping management experience, preferably in a full-service hotel.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, payroll, scheduling, and inventory.
  • Proficiency with hotel property management and housekeeping systems.
  • Ability to lead multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect guest rooms and public areas throughout the property.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all housekeeping and laundry operations to maintain high cleanliness and service standards.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop housekeeping leaders and associates.
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and service-focused team culture.
  • Ensure appropriate management coverage based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Ensure all guest rooms meet brand standards before being released for occupancy.
  • Oversee VIP room preparation and special guest requests.
  • Maintain exceptional guest satisfaction by responding promptly to guest requests and resolving concerns.
  • Monitor quality assurance programs, inspections, guest feedback, and service scores.
  • Ensure consistency in room presentation, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.
  • Maintain established brand, safety, and operational standards.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor labor costs, scheduling, payroll, and productivity to achieve financial goals.
  • Control operating expenses and purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage inventories of linens, guest supplies, cleaning products, and equipment to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping associates and supervisors.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, departmental meetings, and performance evaluations.
  • Promote ongoing training, safety awareness, and professional development.
  • Maintain staffing levels and reduce employee turnover through effective leadership.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and other departments to ensure room readiness and timely maintenance.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance needs and coordinate repairs with Engineering.
  • Maintain key control and security procedures.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and departmental records.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA requirements, safety procedures, and loss prevention standards.
  • Promote a safe working environment through regular training and inspections.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental and energy conservation initiatives.
