About The Position

The Director of Housekeeping oversees all Housekeeping operations, ensuring exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance standards throughout the resort. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for housekeeping associates, public area attendants, laundry operations, and supervisory staff while maintaining a strong focus on guest satisfaction, associate engagement, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Housekeeping management experience, including Director-level experience in a full-service hotel or resort environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving guest satisfaction, quality, and financial goals.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a guest-first mindset.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams in a fast-paced resort environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping operations, laundry services, inventory management, and quality assurance programs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor controls, and operating expenses.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in hotel management systems and standard computer applications.
  • Ability to analyze operational metrics and implement effective solutions.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and workplace regulations, including FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and EEOC requirements.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety procedures, sanitation standards, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent communication requiring hearing, speaking, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and navigate multi-level facilities.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, computers, and housekeeping systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience managing large housekeeping teams strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house areas consistently meet or exceed brand standards.
  • Maintain exceptional levels of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the resort.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, and operational spaces to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Partner with Front Office and Engineering teams to ensure timely room availability and prompt resolution of maintenance concerns.
  • Utilize guest feedback, service scores, and inspection results to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Respond to guest concerns and service recovery situations with professionalism, urgency, and empathy.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and environmental standards.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop Housekeeping leaders and associates.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action in accordance with company policies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment focused on accountability and teamwork.
  • Develop department staffing plans and manage labor resources based on occupancy forecasts and business demands.
  • Promote associate engagement initiatives that support retention and career growth.
  • Manage departmental labor and operating expenses within approved budgets.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business planning processes.
  • Monitor productivity standards, labor efficiency, supply usage, and departmental spending.
  • Control inventory levels for linens, guest room supplies, chemicals, and operating equipment.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Analyze departmental performance metrics and implement action plans to achieve financial objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Rooms Division leadership to support overall guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure preventative maintenance programs support room quality standards.
  • Work with Human Resources to support recruitment, training, recognition, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in daily operations meetings, leadership meetings, and strategic planning discussions.
  • Support resort-wide initiatives, special events, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
  • Provide regular reporting to Executive Committee members regarding departmental performance, staffing, quality metrics, and financial results.
  • Developing and implementing departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Monitoring productivity and quality metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Supporting sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives.
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of Marriott and Westin brand standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance guest room and public space presentation.
  • Supporting senior leadership through operational analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and all applicable laws and regulations.
