About The Position

Riggs Washington DC is seeking a Director of Housekeeping to lead their Housekeeping team and ensure exceptional cleanliness, comfort, and service throughout the hotel. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is passionate about hospitality, team development, operational excellence, and creating memorable guest experiences. The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the Housekeeping Department. This role partners closely with hotel leadership to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience in Housekeeping within a luxury or upscale hotel environment
  • Previous experience managing Housekeeping operations, staffing, labor, and departmental performance
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
  • Proficiency with hotel systems, scheduling, and payroll management
  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends and holidays based on business needs
  • Fun, welcoming, and service-oriented personality is a must

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and motivate all Housekeeping team members to ensure exceptional service and operational excellence
  • Serve as the primary Housekeeping leader and partner to the hotel leadership team
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest room readiness throughout the property
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, coach, and retain best-in-class Housekeeping talent
  • Train, mentor, and hold team members accountable to Riggs service and operational standards
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Housekeeping policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Manage departmental scheduling, payroll, labor productivity, and staffing levels
  • Lead and develop Housekeeping Supervisors and support their professional growth
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure quality standards are consistently met
  • Partner with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure seamless guest satisfaction
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage the ordering of housekeeping supplies and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and brand standards
  • Support departmental budgeting, forecasting, and expense management initiatives
