The Director of Operations will support multiple functional areas throughout the hotel by making independent decisions that help each team meet and/or exceed business objectives. The Director of Operations will coordinate, direct, and manage the hotel operations to achieve maximum profitability, ensure guest satisfaction, protect the financial assets of the business, and maintain the building. This role works directly with the hotel's Executive Committee to manage all activities of the property including employees, maintenance, sales, and profit/loss controls, as well as working to ensure the hotel is maximizing profitability. The Director of Operations will set quarterly goals for each department and monitor progress, ensure service and product quality standards are met, and maintain standards of guest services and a consistent positive guest experience. This role also assists in overseeing the Guest Service program, responding to guest needs, and acting as a liaison between brand GSS and the property. The Director of Operations ensures staff duties are completed in accordance with established policy and procedure, utilizing proper public relations techniques, handling guest requests courteously and professionally, and ensuring guests are handled correctly and efficiently. This role also assists with up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities, oversees HR matters including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management, and ensures payroll costs and other expenses are monitored and controlled in accordance with budgets. The Director of Operations encourages and maintains open communication with internal departments, resolves guest issues, instills a commitment to exceeding guest expectations in staff, and monitors performance. This role attends operational meetings, rooms departmental meetings, and staff events, and recommends changes or innovations to the General Manager. The Director of Operations monitors supply inventories and practices safe work habits, ensuring facility compliance with government and regulatory laws such as OSHA and Cal-OSHA.
