About The Position

The Health Information Director is responsible for supervision, scheduling, performance appraisals, and performance standards of the HIM staff. In addition, the Director is responsible for the yearly budget, compliance with state and federal regulatory standards, innovation, staff education, and policies and procedures. Direct and oversee all HIM department functions, including medical records release of information, abstracting, coding, charging, denial management, revenue integrity, documentation improvement, electronic health record (EHR) data integrity, and system use compliance. Monitors physician documentation and deficiencies to ensure compliance with Joint Commission Standards. Serves on various hospital committees, serves as the HIPAA Officer, and compiles reports with guidelines for hospital JCAHO accreditation. Follows the code of ethics for the practice of Health Information Management as defined by AHIMA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; RHIT or RHIA required.
  • Five+ years of HIM experience.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and follow instructions.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be familiar with ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job as defined in the job description and physical activities summary.
