About The Position

Delve Underground is seeking a Director of Growth to lead a new, modern growth model designed to support Seller-Doers, win more work, and develop future business developers. This role is crucial for the firm's intentional growth, leveraging AI and enhancing client experience. The Director of Growth will design systems, develop people, and set the standard for how Delve Underground pursues and earns work. This is a builder role, not a traditional marketing or BD manager position. The Director will oversee four teams, act as a strategic partner to the Chief Strategy Officer, and foster relationships across the company. The role involves supporting Seller-Doer teams, a digital publishing team utilizing AI, client experience programs, and a digital experience team managing data and CRM.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience in AEC business development, marketing, and/or a related leadership role.
  • Proven ability to win work and build long-term relationships in the AEC sector.
  • A track record of managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to travel frequently.
  • Strong familiarity with the AEC pursuit process, including the Seller-Doer model, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and interview preparation.
  • Excitement about using AI and digital tools to enhance team efficiency and proposal quality.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in transportation, water, wastewater, energy, or other heavy civil infrastructure markets preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the four teams: Set strategy, KPIs, and operating rhythm; track performance and refine the model.
  • Serve as the Chief Strategy Officer's primary partner on growth, culture, and firmwide business development strategy.
  • Coach and develop BD professionals on the team; identify internal talent and create growth pathways.
  • Act as a visible advocate for the team and Seller-Doers, amplifying needs, protecting time, and ensuring resources and support.
  • Lead and support key pursuits, client relationships, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Champion data management, AI adoption, and digital tools to increase efficiency and proposal quality.
  • Represent Delve Underground externally through conferences, industry associations, and brand-building activities.
  • Define and build the internal infrastructure (organization, processes, playbooks, training) for a repeatable and scalable growth model.
