About The Position

The Director of Group Sales for the Houston Rockets is responsible for leading the organization’s Group Sales strategy to drive ticket revenue, attendance, and fan engagement. This role oversees all Group Sales operations, including sales execution, team leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration. The Director of Group Sales plays a key role in developing innovative group ticket products and cultivating a high-performance sales culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience sales, preferably sports, hospitality or related industry; 3-5 years in management role.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must have high level of decision making and accountability.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Communicate (both written & verbal) in a concise and effective manner.
  • Must be able to manage staff and business associates to reach sales and revenue goals.
  • Must be able to identify and address issues or problems in fast paced environment.
  • Must possess strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Must be proficient with Ticketing and CRM Platforms, as well as Excel and other standard sales reporting platforms

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Director of Membership Sales, Sr. Director of Membership Services and the VP of Ticketing – Comets to build a strong sales and service culture and consistently hit our team goals.
  • Develop strategies to maximize attendance and revenue within the overall structure of the organization, with a specific focus on Group sales.
  • Develop department business plans, training strategies, scripts, policies and procedures. Prepares budget for both revenue and expenses annually.
  • Coordinate the development of all Group sales support materials including web pages, direct marketing pieces, and social selling presence.
  • Oversee game night activities relating to Group sales and work closely with Game Presentation, Events and Promotions, Ticket Operations, and Arena Operations to ensure championship-caliber experiences via our Group ticketing programs.
  • Develop strategies and pricing recommendations for Group sales.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding timelines, campaigns, marketing integration, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop strategic sales campaigns, Group ticket products and packages and identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Support growth of Ticketing revenue by maximizing production within the Group sales department, and revenue production from other sales functions within the organization.
  • Track and report on Group sales and events.
  • Develop productive relationships with other departments including Marketing, Business Intelligence, Corporate Development, Ticket Service and Operations, and Arena Operations.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues, solving problems and regularly communicating with staff.
