About The Position

The Director of Grants leads the development of a modern, high-performing Grants Office that advances a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and stewardship across the College. This position secures and stewards external funding that advances the college’s mission, strategic priorities, and transformative initiatives. The Director connects, advises and builds systems that align funding opportunities with the college’s most important work. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in grant development, strategic funding, sponsored programs, fundraising, project management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing competitive grant proposals, managing complex projects, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
  • Ability to use online systems and databases for research, grant tracking, proposal submission, and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in oral, written, virtual, and in-person formats.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents, grant guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, adaptability, and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with federal grants and large-scale institutional initiatives preferred.
  • Certified Grants Management Specialist eligibility preferred.
  • Ability to leverage emerging technologies and AI-assisted tools to support research, project development, workflow efficiency, communication, and other grant processes, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of the institutional grant process, including strategic planning, opportunity development, proposal design, grant management systems, compliance oversight, and post-award stewardship.
  • Oversees college-wide efforts to develop, review, and submit competitive grant proposals for new and expanded programs, services, partnerships, and institutional initiatives.
  • Identifies institutional funding priorities, aligns opportunities with strategic initiatives, monitors funding and legislative trends, and positions the college competitively for external investment.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with employees, community organizations, educational institutions, workforce partners, and funding agencies to support institutional priorities and strengthen external partnerships.
  • Facilitates executive grant approval process, leading cross-functional proposal development teams, and providing guidance on narrative development, budgeting, project design, compliance, and funder alignment.
  • Manages the operations of the Grant’s Office, to include but not limited to: strategic planning, staffing, operational systems, budget administration, annual evaluations, purchasing, records management, and implementation of grant development and grant management systems.
  • Supervises assigned staff.
  • Oversees institutional grant management systems to support successful implementation and compliance of grant-funded projects.
  • Provides training and support to program managers to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, foundation, and college requirements.
  • Monitors program performance and reporting outcomes and communicates progress to college leadership and funding partners.
  • Develops and implements systems, tools, and training that strengthen MCC’s institutional capacity for grant development, program management, stewardship, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversees the implementation of MCC’s Impact Mini-Grant Program, the College’s internal grantmaking initiative; supporting a campus culture of innovation, accountability, and strategic resource development.
  • Oversees assigned special projects and strategic initiatives, including planning, coordination, implementation, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and outcome reporting.
  • Represents the College and Grants Office on institutional committees, professional associations, community councils, and external partnerships as assigned.
  • Attends work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.
