About The Position

Amelia National Golf Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Golf to lead the vision, culture, and strategic direction of our golf operations. This leadership role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution to deliver an exceptional experience for our members and guests while maintaining high service standards and strong financial performance. The Director of Golf is responsible for aligning all golf operations with the Club’s mission, service standards, and long-term goals. This role oversees daily operations, staff development, financial performance, member engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure a premier golf experience.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of progressive golf operations leadership experience (private club or resort preferred)
  • Prior experience as a Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, or senior golf operations leader
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong knowledge of golf operations, retail, and business management principles
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and operational data
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of professionalism and member service focus
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications and golf management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Golf Management Program preferred
  • Class A PGA Member (or apprentice in good standing) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all golf operations, including Assistant Golf Professionals, golf shop staff, and outside services team
  • Ensure exceptional daily operations, including tee sheet management, pace of play, and overall member satisfaction
  • Partner with the Course Superintendent, Golf Course Maintenance team, and Assistant General Manager to optimize course conditions and playability
  • Develop and manage the annual budget; monitor financial performance and explain monthly variances
  • Oversee golf shop operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and equipment sales
  • Manage outside golf operations, including cart fleet, bag services, and practice facilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate staff in accordance with company policies
  • Plan and execute tournaments, leagues, outings, and special events
  • Develop and deliver instructional programs (private lessons, clinics, and group programs for all skill levels)
  • Engage with members to foster strong relationships and enhance club culture
  • Drive strategic initiatives to grow participation, retail performance, and member engagement
  • Collaborate with Sales and Food & Beverage teams to support events and programming
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the Club within the community and golf industry
  • Address member and guest concerns with professionalism and discretion
  • Enforce golf policies, procedures, and pace of play standards
  • Stay current on industry trends, technology, and best practices
  • Prepare operational reports and recommendations for leadership
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, USGA rules, and handicap administration
  • Maintain all golf facilities in a first-class condition
  • Be present during peak times, weekends, and major events
