About The Position

Resurrection has an opening for Director of Global Missions in our Ministries & Programs division! The position is full-time, exempt and is located at the Leawood campus at 13720 Roe Ave. The Director of Global Missions is the church’s leader directing the strategy, engagement, and relationships centering upon global mission and community development efforts across all locations. As a member of the Missions Team, under the direction of the Missions Ministries Lead Director, the Director of Global Missions will collaborate with the Missions Leaders and Location Pastors to develop and implement strategies that will engage every participant in the essential practice of service so that together we will build communities of deeply committed Christians with the hopes of changing lives, renewing churches, and transforming the world. As the Director of Global Missions, he or she will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our global partners. As a part of his or her responsibilities, the Director of Global Missions will manage the Program Director(s) of Global Missions to provide engagement and serve opportunities. The Director of Global Missions will foster relationships and lead global community development efforts as a Board member and through oversight of the Executive Director of Community Development International, Inc.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of demonstrated success in leadership in an equivalent field, with at least one year in management.
  • Proven Results in growing churchwide missions’ programs and implementing systems that engage a congregation in spiritual formation through service with clear entry points and pathways that lead them toward deeper commitment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide directions to Global Missions Team and CDI Director through continual assessment and evaluation, holding Global staff accountable to key metrics and benchmarks that not only track activity, but ultimately yield quantitative growth in engagement, participation, and outcomes.
  • Develop or modify Global Missions ministries and programs to meet the needs, fulfill the potential, and accomplish the vision of the Church of the Resurrection’ vision and mission.
  • Provide spiritual leadership, looking for opportunities to minister to and disciple and encourage others to grow in Christ.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide directions to Global Missions and CDI staff members who are direct reports. This includes ministry assessment and performance evaluation, goal setting, mentoring, spiritual encouragement, support, and conflict resolution.
  • Build effective teams (both staff and volunteer), identifying high-capacity leaders and equipping people for ministry.
  • Oversee international disaster response initiatives.
  • Recruit, manage, motivate, and equip volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Location Pastors, Ministries and Programs’ Team, Foundation and Development teams, as well as the Local Missions Team to design or deliver programming that weaves into the broader strategy for engagement.
  • Collaborate with CDI Board of Directors and partners to design and deliver effective global community development.
  • Connect regularly with Opulence Malawi on their holistic development model, projects, and engagement opportunities including sending Resurrection teams to engage in the transformative work taking place in Malawi.
  • Resolve conflicts or complex challenges.
  • Provide leadership and direction for outreach and evangelism when it comes to Global Missions ministries, programs, and global community development.
  • Counsel individuals regarding spiritual questions and concerns, directing them to further pastoral care when necessary.
  • Manage and lead multiple projects and staff members simultaneously.
  • Maintain an active and visible presence in the community.
  • Create and manage the ministry budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Jesus and engage in the “five essential practices” of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.
  • Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are become deeply committed Christians.”
  • Exemplify the church’s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.
