Director of Global Engagement
About The Position
Batten University is seeking a Director of Global Engagement to develop and execute a strategic vision for Study Away programs. This role involves creating new exchange programs, collaborating with faculty on study away courses, and promoting the university's global initiatives. The Director will administer study abroad programs, manage budgets, and oversee the F-1 and J-1 international student immigration processes, ensuring institutional compliance with federal regulations. The position also includes providing advising to students on study away options and to international students on immigration matters, developing pre-departure workshops, and conducting annual assessments and reporting for the Study Away programs. The Director will also participate in data collection for accreditation reporting and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience with study away administration and programs
- Experience with F-1 and J-1 visa regulations and the SEVIS system
- Experience instructing and advising college students
- Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision and plan
- Understanding of a liberal arts education
- Ability to collaborate with faculty
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience managing budgets
- College-level teaching experience
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities
- Develops and executes a strategic vision of Study Away
- Develops new, high quality study abroad exchange programs
- Collaborates with faculty to develop and offer study away courses
- Promotes University Study Away vision and programs
- Administers study abroad programs, including study abroad exchange partnership and providers
- Develops and communicates Global Engagement policies and procedures
- Develops and administers study away course policies and procedures in collaboration with faculty
- Manages Study Away and Global Scholar budgets
- Administers the F-1 and J-1 international student immigration processes and maintains F-1 and J-1 international student records documentation
- Ensures institutional compliance with applicable federal F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations and reporting requirements
- Provides individualized advising to students on their study away options, preparation, and re-acclimation
- Develops and implements pre-departure study away workshops, materials, and on-line instruction for study away courses
- Provides advising to international students regarding immigration requirements, procedures, and compliance
- Conducts annual Study Away assessment, including assessing Student Learning Outcomes
- Composes annual Study Away report
- Participates in the collection and analysis of data and evidence for reporting to The Commission on Colleges and Universities
- Performs other duties as assigned
