About The Position

The Director of Fulfillment is a strategic and operational leader who oversees CFBNJ’s distribution strategy and equitable allocation of food across a diverse partner network, including pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other emergency feeding programs. This role ensures resources are distributed equitably, efficiently, consistently, and in line with organizational priorities to meet community needs.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of operational and supply chain principles, with the ability to identify efficiency opportunities and lead process improvement or change initiatives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics, including tools such as Excel, Power BI, and CRM systems, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience managing complex projects, overseeing workflows, budgets, or deliverables.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Flexibility to support community and operational needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of fulfillment operations, including allocation, order processing, and distribution, ensuring accurate, timely service delivery and partner experience while monitoring performance against key operational metrics.
  • Implement and continuously improve operational processes, workflows, and systems that support efficient distribution, scalability, and strong partner access to resources.
  • Identify operational gaps and inefficiencies, leveraging data and best practices (including Feeding America network insights) to drive process improvements and proactive service enhancements.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement by advancing service change initiatives, supporting system enhancements, and fostering innovation, learning, and adaptability across the team.
  • Oversee the equitable distribution of food and resources across the partner network, using qualitative and quantitative data to ensure fair, needs-based allocation and effective service delivery.
  • Ensure a high-quality, consistent partner experience across ordering, communication, and issue resolution, including oversight of complex escalations and timely, transparent communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, strengthening engagement, responsiveness, and trust across a diverse network.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and use community, partner, and network data to identify service gaps, inform strategy, and develop solutions that expand equitable access to healthy food and strengthen the partner network.
  • Lead and develop the Fulfillment team by setting clear direction, coaching performance, and modeling strong leadership, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Serve as a key cross-functional partner and liaison to Food Sourcing, Operations, Engagement and Impact teams, aligning workflows and improving overall service delivery across departments.
  • Drive operational excellence by addressing capacity constraints, improving processes, reducing duplication of effort, and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and resource optimization across the network.
