Director of FP&A

About The Position

The Director of FP&A is driven, organized, energetic and owns FP&A coverage for a broad program or portfolio of multiple business units, responsible for the quality and timeliness of financial planning, reporting, and analysis across that scope. As a recognized financial partner to multiple senior leaders, you will translate financial insights into strategic recommendations and manage multiple internal stakeholder relationships. This role carries formal or informal leadership responsibility — at times including direct reports — and serves as a senior member of FP&A expected to hold a high standard for analytical work, mentor junior team members, establish best practices, and help foster a culture of excellence, positivity, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Finance professional with at least 7–10 years of progressive FP&A experience, including demonstrated ownership of a business unit or program and experience working alongside and advising senior leaders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • A background in the mortgage industry highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting, economics, and corporate finance.
  • Advanced modeling skills with Excel and other software.
  • Proactive approach to building robust reporting processes with an eye for automation and simplification.
  • Comfortable analyzing large volumes of complex data and communicating findings concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Utilizes strong business acumen to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to set priorities and manage self and others to deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and a focus on building strong partnerships with internal customers and within the team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis activities across an assigned portfolio of business units or programs on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cadence.
  • Accountable for the quality and timeliness of all deliverables within scope.
  • Build and maintain financial models and scalable reporting processes.
  • Proactively identify and lead automation opportunities that reduce manual work across the team.
  • Analyze performance and develop monthly commentary for assigned business units that reflects a deep understanding of the business drivers and strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of periodic financial reports and present them to senior leadership monthly.
  • Manage expenses and headcount across business units, providing visibility to senior leaders on staffing, capacity, and productivity metrics.
  • Craft relevant KPIs to measure business performance.
  • Serve as a recognized financial partner to multiple senior business leaders, influencing strategic decisions rather than just fielding requests.
  • Represent Finance in driving key strategic initiatives to enhance ROI.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure seamless close processes and accurate financials.
  • Provide ad-hoc support on various strategic initiatives to drive growth, efficiency and profitability.
  • Actively mentor junior FP&A team members and help set the standard for work quality and professional development on the team — regardless of formal direct report structure.
