About The Position

Fuel Great Connections Come lead Food Services at a Northern Nevada non-profit that is building healthy futures for children in the community. As the Director of Food Services with Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, you'll have the opportunity to lead our food services department to ensure youth in our community are fed year-round with a team dedicated to creating healthy, tasty meals for community youth, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. This role manages the food program for the organization, including providing direct oversight to large-scale cafeteria kitchens at two locations and over a dozen sites serving food to children across Reno-Sparks, and operational guidance to additional kitchens and serving sites across Northern Nevada and does include some travel throughout the year. This management includes maintaining food quality and service standards, as well as personnel management and grants reporting, by: working with the VP of Business Operations to achieve strategic and revenue goals; coaching and motivating staff to support culture, engagement, and retention efforts; and reviewing, implementing and tracking all requirements for CACFP, SFSP, and NSLP grants. This role is an administrative heavy role and requires exceptional attention to detail, data-entry skills, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • At least five years of varied experience in professional kitchens
  • At least two years of experience in institutional or multi-location food programs
  • Exceptional attention to detail, data-entry skills, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree or some college coursework
  • Direct experience planning or overseeing a school or other institutional food program
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Experience with grant-reporting, particularly experience with CACFP, SFSP, and NSLP

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and management of the department budget.
  • Oversee, manage, and update all vendor contracts for all locations.
  • Work with food service locations in regards to inventory and ordering.
  • Work with external parties and organizations to provide catering, including setting prices, and managing and tracking billing and invoicing.
  • Attend weekend functions catered by Boys & Girls Club, as needed, including four major special events annually.
  • Stand in as Lead Cook at sites, as needed.
  • Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.
