About The Position

The Director of Fleet will lead fleet operations, maintenance, compliance, and performance initiatives while providing oversight of Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to promote safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the organization.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of fleet operations, DOT regulations, OSHA standards, EHS practices, and applicable federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct driver safety, DOT compliance, fleet operations, and EHS training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Fleet Management, Transportation, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field required.
  • At least five years of fleet operations, transportation, DOT compliance, safety, or EHS experience in an industrial or distribution environment required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads fleet strategy, operations, maintenance planning, and compliance initiatives to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation operations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, EPA, federal, state, and local regulations related to fleet, transportation, workplace safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Oversees DOT compliance activities, including driver qualification files, hours-of-service records, vehicle inspections, maintenance records, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Provides leadership and technical support for EHS programs, safety committees, fleet safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Evaluates and improves fleet utilization, preventive maintenance programs, vendor performance, fuel management, and equipment lifecycle planning.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce vehicle incidents, workplace injuries, equipment damage, compliance risks, and operational disruptions.
  • Coordinates and conducts driver safety, DOT compliance, equipment operation, and EHS training for employees and supervisors.
  • Reviews fleet, DOT, and EHS training programs and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates to strengthen compliance and performance.
  • Conducts fleet, facility, and safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with DOT, EHS, and company requirements.
  • Reviews vehicle accidents, workplace incidents, inspection findings, and compliance issues; recommends corrective and preventive actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
