About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Fleet & Base Operations to lead and optimize large-scale operational, logistics, transportation, and facility management functions across a complex, mission-critical environment. This leadership role combines oversight of supply chain, fleet, warehouse, and distribution operations with the operational discipline, security awareness, personnel leadership, and infrastructure management responsibilities commonly associated with a military base command structure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics leadership, operational readiness, workforce management, emergency preparedness, and cross-functional coordination. This individual will drive operational excellence across procurement, inventory control, transportation, distribution, facility operations, and personnel readiness while ensuring compliance, safety, accountability, and mission continuity. This position offers the opportunity to oversee high-volume logistics networks, lead diverse operational teams, implement strategic initiatives, and maintain a culture of discipline, safety, efficiency, and operational preparedness in support of organizational growth and continuity.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles including procurement, sourcing, demand planning, logistics coordination, and category management.
Proven leadership experience managing large-scale operations, transportation networks, warehouse facilities, fleet operations, or military-style command structures.
Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, and ERP platforms.
Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with experience in supply chain analytics, operational reporting, and performance management.
Proven ability to implement process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma within high-volume operational environments.
Experience managing transportation logistics including freight forwarding, 3PL relationships, NVOCC operations, fleet management, and dispatch coordination.
Strong background in operational readiness, emergency preparedness, risk management, safety compliance, and business continuity planning.
Skilled in warehouse operations including inventory control, shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, materials handling, and packaging procedures.
Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts; knowledge of packaging standards and CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and preventative maintenance scheduling.
Exceptional leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to manage large teams, enforce accountability, and foster a high-performance operational culture.
Excellent communication and decision-making skills with the ability to lead under pressure, coordinate cross-functional operations, and execute strategic initiatives effectively.

Nice To Haves

Experience overseeing facility operations, infrastructure coordination, personnel scheduling, and operational security programs is strongly preferred.
Military leadership, base operations, logistics command, or comparable large-scale operational leadership experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of e-commerce logistics workflows, dispatching operations, materials sourcing, and pricing strategies is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals, focusing on supply chain management, logistics optimization, transportation operations, facility readiness, and organizational efficiency.
Provide leadership oversight for multi-site operational functions including fleet operations, warehouse distribution, transportation planning, infrastructure coordination, and emergency response readiness.
Direct procurement processes including sourcing, purchasing, and category management to ensure cost-effective and mission-critical purchasing decisions.
Manage inventory control systems and warehouse operations utilizing Warehouse Management Systems, ERP platforms, and those alike.
Coordinate transportation planning and fleet management to ensure timely delivery schedules, vehicle readiness, preventative maintenance compliance, and optimized freight costs through partnerships and NVOCC arrangements.
Lead process improvement initiatives across all operational areas utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and supply chain analytics to identify operational efficiencies and reduce downtime.
Oversee shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, picking & packing, materials handling, packaging operations, and dispatch coordination to maintain high service levels and operational continuity.
Supervise large cross-functional teams including logistics personnel, warehouse staff, dispatch coordinators, maintenance teams, security operations, and administrative support staff.
Establish operational command structures, accountability systems, workforce readiness programs, and standard operating procedures to support efficient daily operations and emergency response preparedness.
Ensure operational compliance with safety regulations, transportation requirements, facility standards, and organizational policies while maintaining a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and contingency planning to support both routine operations and high-priority operational needs.
Manage warehouse operations including dispatching, forklift operations, materials management, maintenance coordination, and facility security procedures.
Implement and oversee safety protocols, emergency preparedness plans, incident response procedures, and business continuity strategies to ensure operational resilience.
Utilize CMMS platforms for maintenance planning and asset tracking while ensuring adherence to Transportation Management Systems for routing and operational visibility.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments including procurement, sales, IT, HR, facilities, compliance, and executive leadership to streamline operations and support organizational objectives.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to fleet readiness, shipping & receiving accuracy, workforce productivity, freight costs, facility operations, inventory accuracy, safety compliance, and overall operational performance.
Lead operational briefings, readiness meetings, performance reviews, and strategic planning sessions with senior leadership and department managers.
Maintain high standards of operational security, personnel accountability, asset protection, and organizational readiness across all assigned functions.
