The Director of Financial Operations & Performance is a senior member of the Finance & Accounting Leadership Team and plays a critical role in overseeing the company’s financial operations while leading enterprise‑wide financial performance management in close partnership with operations. This role combines strong technical accounting oversight with corporate FP&A leadership and embedded operational finance partnership. The Director serves as a strategic advisor to the CFO, executive leadership, and senior operational leaders—translating operational activity into financial insight, driving performance transparency, and supporting informed decision‑making across the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree or CPA preferred)
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, operational finance, or related roles
  • Strong background in operational finance and financial performance management
  • Experience in government contracting or regulated environments
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross‑functional stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize financial and operational data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior management and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
  • Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing finance talent

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight of the Technical Accounting function through the Accounting Manager, including: Audits and regulatory compliance (including government contracting requirements), General ledger integrity, Corporate financial reporting
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
  • Maintain adherence to corporate accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards
  • Develop and deliver corporate financial reporting and performance commentary that provides senior leadership with clear insights into: Financial results, Operational performance, Key business drivers and trends
  • Lead and continuously improve processes for analyzing: Monthly financial results, Business and operational KPIs, Dashboards and performance scorecards, Forecasts, models, and scenario analyses
  • Strengthen the organization’s ability to measure, monitor, and act on financial performance
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes in partnership with operational and executive leadership
  • Align financial plans with operational priorities, capacity, and execution realities
  • Provide forward‑looking analysis to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and resource allocation
  • Oversee and/or conduct ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects as required
  • Serve as a primary finance business partner to senior operational leaders
  • Participate in and lead financial performance reviews with operations, focusing on results, root causes, and improvement opportunities
  • Translate operational activity into financial impacts and ensure finance is embedded in operational decision‑making
  • Support leaders with insights that connect financial outcomes to operational drivers
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Financial Services team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve process efficiency, automation, and data integrity
  • Build scalable financial processes and performance management capabilities to support growth and complexity
