About The Position

We're seeking a dynamic, visible leader who is passionate about developing people, driving performance, and creating an environment where both employees and members thrive. As the Director of Financial Centers, you'll serve as a strategic leader responsible for the overall success of our Financial Center network. You'll partner closely with Financial Center Supervisors to coach and develop leaders, strengthen operational excellence, drive membership and production growth, and ensure every location consistently delivers a Member First experience. This role is ideal for an experienced leader who enjoys being present in the business, leading through coaching and accountability, and inspiring teams to achieve meaningful results while supporting Southland's mission and long-term growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of branch/financial center operations, retail banking, financial services, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience with responsibility for multi-site leadership, operational oversight, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Proven success leading leaders and teams to achieve measurable growth, service, operational, and member experience results.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-performing leadership teams and building succession pipelines.
  • Proven experience leading organizational change and driving execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, talent development, and performance management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Center operations, member experience delivery, growth strategies, leadership accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret performance metrics, identify trends, analyze performance gaps, and implement effective action plans.
  • Ability to influence outcomes, build consensus, and establish strong cross-functional partnerships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate expectations, provide feedback, present information, and influence leaders at multiple levels.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable banking and credit union regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Financial Center Supervisors while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive network-wide performance across membership growth, lending and deposit production, referral activity, digital adoption, and member experience outcomes.
  • Conduct regular Financial Center visits, leadership observations, coaching sessions, performance reviews, and development conversations to strengthen leadership effectiveness.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline by identifying, mentoring, and preparing future leaders for advancement opportunities.
  • Ensure Financial Centers consistently deliver exceptional Member First experiences while reinforcing service excellence, relationship building, and financial wellness conversations.
  • Oversee operational excellence, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, security, and risk management across the Financial Center network.
  • Champion organizational change initiatives, remove operational barriers, and translate strategic priorities into measurable results.
  • Monitor performance metrics, scorecards, staffing effectiveness, and operational trends to develop action plans that improve organizational performance.
  • Lead Southland's community engagement strategy for the Financial Center network by building relationships with community organizations, businesses, and strategic partners that support membership growth and market expansion.
  • Partner with Human Resources and executive leadership to support leadership development, performance management, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
