About The Position

Cornerstone Support Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of our growing nonprofit organization. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial operations while also evaluating our existing financial systems and processes, strengthening internal controls, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending improvements that will support Cornerstone's continued growth. The Director of Finance will report functionally to our Fractional CFO and work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer, executive leadership, and finance and operational teams.

Requirements

  • One or more accounting degrees or closely related fields of study.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Strong hands-on QuickBooks Desktop experience.
  • Experience with corporate credit cards and expense management.
  • Experience evaluating financial processes and implementing meaningful system and workflow improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify the root cause of financial or operational problems.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial matters and recommendations clearly to non-financial leaders.
  • Experience supervising and developing accounting or finance staff.
  • High standards of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting operations, including general ledger oversight, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow information, and management reports.
  • Evaluate accounting, billing, payroll, purchasing, and reconciliation processes for accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and internal control.
  • Identify recurring financial issues, determine root causes, and present practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee RAMP corporate card and expense-management processes, including coding, receipts, approvals, permissions, reconciliations, and purchasing controls.
  • Monitor Medicaid revenue, billing, accounts receivable, and related reconciliations.
  • Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and analysis.
  • Support external audits, tax reporting, Form 990 preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Supervise and develop finance staff and establish clear accountability for financial responsibilities.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of future accounting and financial systems.
